i have had 315/35/20 Pilot Supersports on my rear 20x10 wheels for a few years now. they were almost an inch wider than the 315/35 Nitto NT05's i had on before them. i had to roll my fenders more. no issues with the wheel size working with them though. (mounted them myself). due to the rim protector being so deep on them they don't pinch at all on the wheel. nice squared off sidewall. i'm running 285/35 on the fronts which are 9in wide.

Thanks for the input and the great pictures of your beautiful Charger! Its funny how they appear to fit even better on a 10" wheel than the 295/35 K1 PSS in my first post. Must be the extra sidewall. Looks like this is the way to go for the extra diameter. I also have the 285/35 on a spare set of 20x9. I am running the 255/40 N0 up front now which are, no suprise nearly just as wide as the 285/35.

Do you happen to know the difference between the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4S as far as performance? The 315/35/20 available, other than the PSS is just the Porsche PS4 but no PS4S right now.

while i don't get direct marketing info or get invited to tire manufacturer ride and drive events anymore since i left the tire game (worked for Discount Tire for 15 years, left in 2015 to do HVAC for my brother in laws company) from what i have been told the PS4 and PS4S are basically the same tire and the S designation is applied to the larger diameter rim sizes. i find that hard to believe when a lot of places online say the S is supposed to be on a higher performance level. so i'm not sure.

i was looking into the PS4 just to see if there was a reason to upgrade. from what i have heard it seems that even though the PS4 is an upgrade, on the track use side of things the PSS is supposed to be a hair better than the PS4. i actually bought 2 sets of PSS right before i left DTC to take advantage of my employee discount. lol. i have another set i use on autocross tracks. i'm not far off needing to replace the track set though.

I also heard that the S is for the larger sizes, but that fails to explain the 315/35/20 in the PS4 for the Porsche oem fitment. Makes sense that the PSS would still be better for the track since the main improvement on the PS4S is in the treadlife and wet performance.

That's good to know, BigHoward. I didn't realize they had a bigger footprint than the Atturo's. My rear is sitting on 315's... but I could always add a little more girth back there. I'm old school, love the meaty look

The wheels and tires look very nice. Are those black chrome? Oh and best of all, functional. I wish there was a 10.5" Hyper black, I'd be all over the 315s.

Anyone have pic's of a 315/35/20 on a 20x12 wheel?anda 275/40/20 on a 10in wheel?

I went with the 315/35/20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4. These are the OEM fitment on the new Panamera Turbo. I saw a few tests for these and they are a little better than the PS4S in the rain but only slightly worse than the PS4S on the track. These will never see a track so they should provide the same performance for spirited daily driving with slightly extra comfort over the PS4S and PSS.

I am not surprised that they are about as wide as the 295/35/20 K1 Pilot Super Sports. Tire Rack measures the tread width of these at 11.4" vs. 11.9" on the PSS. Also the load index is much higher at 110 vs. 106 on the 295/35. These are not mounted yet so they may get a bit skinnier once on the wheel.

Still much larger than my spare set of PSS 285/35 though!

I will post some follow up photos once these are mounted.

Gorgeous!!!:thumbs_u:
Thanks! Once I get the 315s on I will try to keep the edge of the tires flush with the fenders. I see too many setups with 315s that poke out of the fender, typically due to the low offset of the 10.5" aftermarket wheels. Since my wheels are widened, I have a more positive offset that currently is utilizing a 10mm spacer to prevent rubbing on the inner wheel well. I may be able to get to a 6mm spacer to get these 315s sitting flush.

Gonna look amazing keeping them tucked. Did you have them widened at Weldcraft? I'm thinking of having a set of 19x10's narrowed for the front of my car. I have a brand spanking new set of wheels I bought for my Mustang that has the wrong offset for the front of these cars. The upper ball joints on these cars are in the way!

Yes that was who I used. I tried to mount the 20x10 up front for fun but I would have needed about a 20mm spacer to get them to clear the upper wishbone.

This was already with a 15mm spacer, then I ran out of stud.

Anytime lol, there is definitely room for some more wheel and tire in there!

I personally like the understated look of the R/T Charger better but those skinny 8" wheels get me everytime.

I have 20x10 out back and the stock 20x9 up front. The 10" would need longer studs and too much spacer to fit, and it would be outside of the fender. 20x9.5 will work but I like the look of 20x9 with a 3mm spacer the best up front.

I got the 315/35/20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 mounted in the rear only. I took them for a quick drive in the rain and they have seriously impressed me so far. I immediately noticed a more comfortable ride that is absorbent, yet still feels sporty. To be fair, I did go up a bit in sidewall from a 295/35 with a 28" diameter to the 315/35 with a 28.7" diameter.

The previous tire was a Michelin Pilot Super Sport. The PS4 is really a next generation PS3 versus the PS4S which is a successor to the PSS. My vehicle is just a daily driver so I decided to go with the PS4 over the PS4S, which had nearly as good ratings even on a track. The PS4 was said to be better in the rain than the PSS and PS4s. Also the PS4S is not yet available in 315/35/20. In my limited testing, I was impressed with how much I could get on the pedal without any signs of slipping, either straight line or turning.

I was pleasantly surprised to have no rubbing issues yet, although the 295/35 was just as wide as this tire. There is definitely a heftier look to this tire and the weight penalty for the extra sidewall is 3lbs for each tire compared to the 295/35 K1 PSS.

The PSS is still an amazing tire but I immediately felt the newer technology at work. To balance it out, I will try to get a matching set of 275/40/20 up front replace the 255/40/20 PSS.

There is still plenty of clearance, even with a mild lowering spring. I do have 10mm spacers with extended lugs. The wheels are widened to the inside which serves as a benefit to keep the large tires flush with the fender versus an aftermarket wheel which will provide generous negative offset to prevent fitment issues, at the cost of the wheel sticking outside the fender a bit.

They really don't look any wider than the 295/35. The tire rack tread width measurement truly is accurate to gauge how wide a tire will appear once installed. The K1 295/35 had a sightly wider tread width than these so I did not expect the 315/35 to appear any wider.

I got the 275/40/20 Pilot Sport 4 on the front to match the 315/35/20 on the rear. These tires are absolutely phenomenal. Up front, the steering still delivers good feedback while further improving and "stiffening" the steering feel while going straight or in turns. The previous PSS in 255/40/20 seemed to wander the steering wheel a bit. These feel more solid. In the rear, I can finally roll into 1st and maintain full traction. The ride quality is much improved over the PSS while the performance is still there for my daily driving uses. I feel no difference in spirited driving even though I went up a tiny bit in sidewall. Load rating went from 101 to 106 up front and from 106 to 110 in the rear. They are also very quiet. They have a noise cancelling foam attached to the inside of the tire.

For a 9" or 9.5" wide wheel, the 275/40/20 would be a great choice to run all around. The 315/35/20 fits well on a 10" wide rim but no smaller. I am using the same 10mm spacer I did in the rear, on extended studs, and there are no rubbing issues. The tire is still, barely, inside the rear fender. No spacers were needed up front, although the rim protector is very generous on the 275/40.
