Prepping to pick up a Scat Pack and if I can't get a deal on a lot car, I am just going to order one. Is the stock sound system that much different than the upgraded Beats one? I had the 18 speaker Harmon Kardon in my 2012 SRT8 (complete with super annoying rear tray bass rattle) and my 2015 Abarth has Beats audio - would I be let down with the stock 2017 (whatever it is) system in the Scat Pack after those two? I am no sound expert but I dont want tingy or crappy sound quality either.

I also wouldn't order the sun roof or upgraded wheels, but I like the tech, NAV, adaptive cruise, blind spot etc.

I'd order the upgraded stereo. It's factory backed, you get more speakers (at least I am pretty sure you do), and it sounds great. Not sure your musical preference, but I find the system to be pretty well balanced with solid, not muddy bass. I like the balance between solid hit in the bass notes with a little hum, not too far either way. Don't get it, and you'll always wonder...

You'd do better by taking that $1000, buying a dsp and aftermarket speakers, and having them installed than you would wasting it on the beats. I think the Alpine sounds better than the beats.

I really pleased with the Beats. I know it's not high end, I know it's not true audiophile quality, but it sounds clean and the bass is tight. Looking back, for the money I wish I'd gotten a sunroof instead of the Beats, but I'm really happy with how it sounds. It fulfills my needs well.

Folks the last thing you should be using is Bluetooth. You are probably converting one lossy format (mp3) to another (Bluetooth a2dp). You are better off playing files from a USB thumbdrive. The input jack has better possibilities than BT audio...

I have USB and an sd card and the Bluetooth output sounds better by far. Go figure. Probably because I can increase volume output with the phone

Scatpack is my 3rd charger. Had beats in 2 of the 3. I think the bass is clearer when cranked and I do believe you get a couple more speakers. Just my opinion but I can't live without the moon roof. I've had that option on all 3. No leaks or issues!

Both sound nice, listened to both when looking to buy my 16SP but I wasn't sure the Beats was worth the $1000. I went with the base Alpine with the thought of adding a sub aftermarket. I spent ~$600 on Alpine type S sub paired with 500 watt Alpine amp. $600 was everything, box, wires, installation. It sounds amazing and with the RUX knob installed up front you can control the amp/sub right from the driver seat. Saved ~$400 from Beats system and the sound blows the Beats out of the water!!

so you just added an amp and sub in the back and left all else alone and it made a big difference? where did you install the sub? I hate to lose that bottom storage tray that has all my crap in it lol... can it be installed on the side like the beats one is or that doesn't work?

I have the stock system and honesty I think they both are crappy. At 70 with the windows down maybe 1/4 down you just can't even hear the radio.

It truly is piss poor compared to my 03 vettes bose system that can be heard clearly and nicely at 100mph with the top off.

But the sound of the exhaust and the joy of the go fast pedal who needs to hear the radio!!

I'd say save your money stick to the stock alpine. Buy a nice amp and sub and start there. If you want to add speakers down the road get a amp that will accommodate that. I had an amp and sub laying around I wanted to put in my previous car and never did so I bough one more amp just to power the stocks. And boy o boy my radio sound just how I wanted. You can't hear me two blocks away.. But that's not what I wanted.. At 12 my radio is loud enough to be heard outside the car with the windows down. But the big difference was the clarion esq I installed.. Everything sounds so clear! I can raise my volume all the way to 38 I believe is Max and haven't had any issues with the stocks they hold up great! Glad I didn't opt for the beats. All in all I spent just a few hundred on installation and the kicker amp for the stocks. The sub is pioneer being powered by a pioneer amp.

I put Hybrid Audio in the dash and used an old set of Boston Acoustic Rally Components in the F door and R deck. 6 channel Wet Sounds amp and Alpine 500w on a 12" Type R sub. Then an Audison Bit Ten processor to control it all.

Anyone able to fix the back window speaker covers from rattling? When I turn it up the black felt deck cover rattles something fierce. I assume everyone's does this as another one I listened to prior to my car did it too. Stock Alpine Scat.
