So I was driving the other day normal city traffic for about 15 minutes, then I was looking ofr a parking spot for about 10-15 minutes. Basically crawling at 5 mph, had traction control off hit the gas hard once then back to normal. All of the sudden I went into limp mode I pulled over turned off the car and everything has been fine since (been 3 days), no check engine light though but I went ahead and had it hooked up and showed a code for low coolant I looked and it was a little low, so i filled it.My car is bone stock right now (only had it a couple weeks) I realize that the car was hot from low speed driving, but would the low coolant level cause it to go into limp mode? Do other people have their car just go into limp mode spontaneously for just a minute? (the reason I ask that is the manual references that it can happen momentarily) Any help or input greatly appreciated

there are two limp modes one for engine and one for the trans if it was the trans the code would of been p0700 and you would need the star scan to read all the codes it popped etc..

what was your engine temp at the time it happend? stock t stat opens at 203

Oil temp was 220 which I believe is normal, do not recall coolant temp I was almost home when it happened and went to the internet manual to find out that limp mode even existed. Good to know there are two limp modes I was hoping it wasn't a transmission issue. I had a scan tool from autozone that gave me the coolant code but that was all that it showed. The driving conditions combined with the low coolant seem like a situation that could cause it to go into limp mode for the engine

Even more confused now. I was thinking it was just the coolant thing and that it went into limp mode because it got hot then today I drove about 20 miles (highway) and went to turn around to park and when I pulled in a driveway and shifted to reverse nothing happen. The dash showed reverse but it wasn't engaged the engine just revved. I shifted to park then to reverse and it was fine. Maybe I didn't have the brake down far enough? I read some stuff about the brake sensor giving people trouble, but since I have been having problems this week I don't know what to think. I called today and hope to get the tranny checked out tommorrow
