Confused by dyno results?

I know each dyno is different but I would have thought things would have been a little different. I dyno'ed the car about 2 months ago, bone stock on a mustang dyno. The Mustang shows 380hp and 412 for tq. I don't know what it means when it says with WCF. Now, just Saturday I put my K&N intake back on, loaded a the diablo canned tune and drove up to get it dyno'ed, this time on a dynojet. Results were 385HP and 410TQ. What gives on that?

Location makes a difference. And like you said, different dynos will give different numbers. It is odd that the usual stingy mustang dyno was close to the dynojet though. I'm subscribed. Interested in what you find out

Replace that K&N Hot Air Intake for an LMI True CAI..:racing:................This is why people around here call the local dyno the "heartbreaker"....dynos are good for tuning not bragging.....the track tells the true story..

I agree, a dyno it's just a tool to make adjustments. the track does not liar!!

The problem is you made changes and then also changed the dyno too. Now, you have no idea what changed, was it the dyno or the parts you changed comes into question. You need to be consistent somewhere, stay with the same dyno or create a new baseline with the new dyno. Then you can make changes to your car and analyze the effect it has had to your power curve. I agree with backing it up with results from the track too, not all the power ends up going to the ground the same way.

yes, mustang dyno's tend to read lower, but you referenced that the mustang number you quoted was a weather corrected number. trust me, that number would have been higher than what the dyno actually read for that day. soooooo....... you quoted a weather corrected mustang number and then compared it to a dynojet number....... the difference will likely not be as far as you are thinking. now, if you compared the ACTUAL number the mustang showed that day vs. the dynojet, then you would likely see the bigger difference........... but in the end, its like comparing apples to oranges.......
