Check Engine Light on code:P0325

Hello Fam,
So I was taking a drive today in my 300C since the weather was nice, and all of the sudden my check engine light comes on! Ruined my day!

With the help of this forum, I was able to figure out how to get the code to display and I found a link to a site that told me this: code: P0325 -knock sensor 1 circuit (bank 1)-.
How can the knock sensor go bad at 8,500 miles?!
I am wondering if it is the gas, (since we have the ethanol mix here) fouling it up?

Has anyone else had this problem?

P0325-KNOCK SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT
  • When Monitored: This monitor runs above 2000 rpm, under open throttle conditions. The high voltage test runs all the times the engine is running.
  • Set Condition: The High voltage fault will set at 4.8 volts. Two Trip Fault. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.
Possible Causes
(K42) KNOCK SENSOR NO.1 SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO BATTERY VOLTAGE
(K42) KNOCK SENSOR NO.1 SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
(K942) KNOCK SENSOR NO.1 RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN
(K42) KNOCK SENSOR NO.1 SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (K942) KNOCK SENSOR NO.1 RETURN CIRCUIT

just because the code says knock sensor, does not necessarily mean that the sensor is defective. there are many other possible causes for this DTC to set and they must be all checked before condemning the sensor. fuel will not affect this sensor as it is bolted to the block and does not come into contact with fuel.

from FSM:
Two knock sensors are used; one for each cylinder bank. When the knock sensor detects a knock in one of the cylinders on the corresponding bank, it sends an input signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). In response, the PCM retards ignition timing for all cylinders by a scheduled amount.
Knock sensors contain a piezoelectric material which constantly vibrates and sends an input voltage (signal) to the PCM while the engine operates. As the intensity of the crystal's vibration increases, the knock sensor output voltage also increases.
The voltage signal produced by the knock sensor increases with the amplitude of vibration. The PCM receives the knock sensor voltage signal as an input. If the signal rises above a predetermined level, the PCM will store that value in memory and retard ignition timing to reduce engine knock. If the knock sensor voltage exceeds a preset value, the PCM retards ignition timing for all cylinders. It is not a selective cylinder retard.
The PCM ignores knock sensor input during engine idle conditions. Once the engine speed exceeds a specified value, knock retard is allowed.

Just wanted to let you all know that the light went out on Monday of this week....guess my car had to re-adjust...
I also just did the resonator delete....2.5 inch straight pipes with 3.5 inch tips....I can hear some growl now!
