Last night (05/01/08) I installed a MotoRad 170 degree thermostat. I bought it at Autozone (special order). It was under the name Valucraft 4127 but when it arrived it was stamped MotoRad and Made in Germany.

The swap out wasn't too bad. I lost a lot of coolant. It came pouring out when I removed the OEM t-stat which was probably due to the fact the engine was still a bit warm. I had extra Mopar coolant on hand already mixed 50/50 with distilled water so no worries. I just added back what I needed.

The new t-stat works great. On my ride into work this morning in 61-65 degree ambient temps the engine ran cooler than I've ever seen it. I don't have EVIC but what I saw was the temp gauge needle always 2 to 4 small hash marks to the left of straight up. Straight up is 200 degrees. And this was without my fans running.

No check engine lights so far.

Tonight I take it to the track. This should be interesting.

Any issues relating to the 170* thermostat, CEL or performance wise?

Mod list updated and...

Just had Blastin' Bob's GPDW250 6db resonated kit w/DW tips installed today. Sounds great. I had them fully welded. No drone whatsoever. Still can't tell when MDS kicks in. The only thing I don't like is WOT still sounds stock. All other amounts of throttle sound beefy. I will be looking into swapping out my 340hp suitcase for a 350hp (Daytona) suitcase.
