flowmaster force 2 cat back installed

did the deed yesterday. pretty easy to remove, bout a half hour. took about 2 hours after the old one was off to get the new one installed. hardest part was lining up and tightening all the clamps, some serious torque was necessary. after it was all said and done i had only one clamp not tight enough, so i went back under there and gave her all i had and now its perfect. might have seals welded as a precaution.

installation of headers/cats/underdrive pulley

First of all, major props to my dad, roguese, for giving me his old school knowledge and confidence to get this done. couldn't have done it without him. i started taking apart the front end friday night/saturday night. this pic is already from after the pulley is installed, i forgot to snap one when i first took it off

the pulley did give me some trouble because i went about it all wrong. its works best to pull from the inside with the jaw hooks facing the crankshaft nose. took me a while to figure it out. the special tool insert miller sells, 8513a, can be used but something equally as effective can be fashioned

i used a 3/8 drive 10mm socket with a 1/2 inch to 3/8 reducer behind it. the 10mm fit right inside the nose and since it is tapered up to fit a 3/8 ratchet it stops itself from going into the nose and allows you to pull it off fairly easily. New pulley installed and torqued to spec. i used a strap wrench and a block of wood to accomplish that

Headers as everyone knows are a pain in the arse to install, only because the immense amount of patience it takes to do it on your back. i also did it without removing the motor mounts because i was a little scared of doing that. i am by no means a trained mechanic or one who actually has vast experience, just started doing my own work about a year ago so jacking up a motor and getting it all lined up right was not something i really wanted to try. I could see shaving a lot of time off if you did though. I did use the srt header bolts. I did drop the whole exhaust to remove the mid pipes. its really helps to get the 02 sensors out of the stock manifolds before unbolting. Drivers side was, dare i say, actually pretty easy to get off. Passenger side was, as been well documented, a hell of a lot more annoying

i actually removed the driver side sunday evening and snapped some pics early monday

Demolded
New Badges
Orange calipers
gloss black wheels

i painted the wheels myself, first time using an air powered painter. i used and ingersoll rand 210g and i must say it was one hell of a tool.

well finally had some time to get everything almost done. installed the oil pressure sending unit in the factory location due to the size of the sending unit, and moved the factory sending unit to the threaded hole right above. The one sent with the gauge could not be put in the higher hole because it would rub the back of the alternator. All i have to do now is make some cuts around nav unit to smooth it out, maybe give it some heat to smooth it out some more. i wrapped the bezel in faux leather vinyl contact paper, after spending much time dry and wet sanding the surface below.
