Well some of these pictures have been floating around, but the story was never told here. I guess I may as well tell it, at the very least to explain the dirty cars!
Last May, Anitta and I did a little day trip from Phoenix through Tortilla Flat, down to Globe, up to Show Low, over to Payson, and then back down. Here's a map of the route:

This is the landscape just outside of town, in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains:
Here we are at Canyon Lake:
And approaching Tortilla Flat:
...once you pass which, the road turns to dirt - a key point I missed when I was planning the route on Google Earth.
This would be great in a jeep.
Did I mention that she had just yesterday finished claybarring the entire car?
I hope she isn't pissed at me yet.
Did I mention that she had been working on the car a panel at a time, over the course of the last week?
Maybe there's not too much further to go on the dirt...
OH, Holy ****, yeah I'm in trouble:
WHAT have I gotten us in to?
Is she still back there?
Yep, I think she's committed (or she's gonna have to be :mrgreen
.
Finally back on paved roads, the result of my little excursion:
I'm lucky she's a good sport. You learn a lot about a person by thrashing their hard work...
Despite the dirt, I love this shot:
Spot the Nanner?
^^ Just to the right of center-span.
I love this one too:
It's almost worth going back to this spot (on the paved route this time) to retake this picture with clean cars.
Here's the bridge and Roosevelt Lake:
Back on the road, we're ready to move:
Up in the pines, south of Show Low:
And back in town, an endcap on a great day:
