I just saw Top Gear do a film on it and though they did give it praise, they did rightly conclude that it was way overpriced for a Kia...
So it has about the same real-world performance figures as a Dodge Charger RT but costs $10,000 more if you get them similarly equipped. In fact, you could get a Scat Pack fully loaded or maybe even an SRT 392 for the same or less money than a Kia Stinger. It would be absolutely no contest between the two. On paper the Kia Stinger appears to be better than the Charger RT but having tried to wring the most 0-60 out of my own cars I know how difficult it is. I highly doubt that any average Joe can push their Kia Stinger to the C&D 4.4s 0-60. Frankly I'm skeptical that they got that figure. The Kia Stinger is still a 4,000lb RWD car on relatively skinny tires with less HP and less torque than the Charger...
Even when you toss the performance numbers away, what else do you get for your extra 10k? You get a badge nobody wants, a cheap interior, a cheap exterior and goofy side styling. I'd criticize the rear but they pretty much stole it directly from the Charger and made it look worse.
It just bugs me that a not very good company like Kia makes a RWD sedan and the world goes nuts yet we've had the bargain of the century in the Charger RT and Scat Pack but since it's expected from Dodge nobody seems to care...
Honestly, it's the same thing as when Kia made that stupid $70,000 luxury nonsense. Who in their right mind would spend $50,000 on a kia?
