Well I'm back! After my poor black R/T got smashed, I was going to try to rebuild it. Something is bent in the back, it can't be aligned anymore, so I'm calling it on that one. I just picked up this guy, another 06 R/T. It's in need of some love, but I got a good deal on it. I'm going to take the SRT interior and wheels from the wrecked car and put them on this one. The engine of the wrecked car will live on in my 68 Dart (eventually).

Welcome back! Sorry to hear of the demise of the black one, but glad it will live on in the Dart transplant. I’m sure you’ll get this new Mag looking and running great.

Comp Cams NSR Thumpr. I only have 200 miles on the motor. I’m deciding if I want to keep it or tone it down a bit.

Sounds pretty beastly - I would hate to change it, but you might get tired of it if you spend much time on the freeway with it.
Shaved wiper and latch looks killer! I want to do that. Did you do it or have it done?

Did those headlamps come on the silver car or did you pull them from your black one? Those are projectors, right? Do they work well? What bulbs are in them? Hope the project is coming together for you!

I got my car back from the shop and my "death wobble" has been fixed!! For the last few years, i had a very intermittent issue. When driving at my freeway speeds (80-85), when I would touch the brakes to slow down, occasionally the front end would start to violently vibrate. Immediately let off the brakes and apply again and it wouldn't do it. Usually only occurred over 80 mph. Got new tires and it went away, so I figured that one of my front tires was going bad. But a while later it would come back.. again intermittently. I replaced all of my front suspension parts/bushings with new ones about 18 months ago, and again it went away. But it came back about 6 months ago and got worse.

Finally got it into a suspension shop. Two different techs drove it and compared it to the "death wobble" for Jeeps (or any solid front axle vehicle). They found that the lower control arms were already starting to show some play, and they found a lot of play in the steering rack bushings (which had not been replaced in 226K miles). All new lower control arms and steering rack bushings and she is good as new. Can haul down from 100mph with no shaking at all now.

So happy to have that finally fixed. And here's just a random pic of her looking pretty in the parking lot yesterday.

Sounds like a good shop. What shop is it?

Installed Spyder projector halo headlight housings with Wicked T2 LED's - vastly improved lighting and not obnoxious for oncoming drivers. Cleaned and painted used front crossmember that will go in during 6.1 swap (mine is pretty beat from being lowered for 175k). Installed new stud in used 6.1 exhaust manifolds for future swap (probably could have banged it straight with a hammer, but why risk having it snap once motor is in for an $8 part...) Replaced rack bushings with Whiteline - the old Pedders ones look fine but have 150k and could feel movement when cranking the steering back and forth. My 80mph shake greatly reduced, still need to check wheel balance.

Pinned the crank on my 6.1 to prep for ProCharger. Glad it was on engine stand instead of in the car

So sorry to hear that. What is with all these people smashing up your Maggie’s?
Fascia on your black one is still good, right?

Last month everything was solid. I just found one front tire has about 2 inches of drag slick pattern. Probably related to that slight lane position hunting I've noticed the last couple weeks. Time for a rebuild. Anyone here have an opinion on the Energy Suspension complete poly kit? I wouldn't mind having all the bushings end to end in one go. That would only leave ball joints, rod ends, bearings, and struts to pick up if needed.
I have done the complete front suspension and the rear subframe& diff mounts and have been very happy with Energy Suspension. Still need to do rear suspension parts. Kind of doing the complete kit in pieces…
I ordered an extra little tub of the special grease so I didn’t have to be stingy with it and all has been quiet. Once you burn out the old bushings the new ones go in fairly simply except the lower control arm ones put up a fight. If you have proper press, probably not so bad but I was playing around with big vise, ball joint C press, 2 pairs of large Channellocks and miscellaneous other tools.
Also too much grease there traps air and makes it reluctant to press in.

I'm planning to skip the wheel bearings unless I find dead ones. These days, a new bearing is likely to be worse than a 100K bearing.
Agreed - If the bearings don’t have play, don’t make noise, and feel smooth when you rotate the hub, might as well run them!

Got the 6.1, fresh NAG1 & converter and used crossmember in(old one was beat from riding low). Repaired and rewrapped a lot of my header-cooked wire harness. Lots of odds and ends
