Cpl. James Lindsey (jtl13f)
Charlie Co., 3rd regiment, 509th Parachute Infantry Division
Killed April 12th, 2007 by a roadside bomb

A few weeks ago, I was asked by a web site that I'm affiliated with to see if I could find a soldier to "adopt". We had tried Soldiers Angels and other organizations without any real success. Almost as if on cue, Cpl. Lindsey posted this thread:

http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=57815

...indicating that he was in Iraq and had just re-upped until 2012. "Perfect!" I thought to myself. I contacted him via PM and had arranged to send he and his buds all kinds of good stuff. Yesterday, the first box of stuff, including a brand new inkjet printer, was dropped off at the post office. Today...we find out that he has been killed in action. I feel like I've been gut-shot. I've never met the man and I'm sitting here with tears welling up to the point I can hardly read what I'm typing here.

He had a close call recently as some of you noticed in this thread:

http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=60599

...but 8 days later, another bomb took his life. I only exchanged a few messages with him but he struck me not only as a great kid but also a soldier that we could all be very very proud of.

A little bit ago I received an email from who I believe to be a close friend of his in response to a query I had sent and she confirmed his passing.

Whatever your beliefs, I'd like to ask you all to pray for him and his family.

Rest in peace, James. Rest in peace.

i have not been in the lx community for long, but i must say, WOW. God Bless all of you for your heartfelt condolences. people ask us why we do what we do....you just answered the question. i just returned from the middle east and am getting ready to go back out there in a couple of months. this will be my 14th cruise (Navy) and the majority have taken me back time and time again. i have seen friends die and have lost much of myself to the things that i have experienced...i do notwish this on anyone. there are those of us that do this because it is what we were born to do. all i can ask is that you guys and gals keep on doing what you do. you make us feel like we are fighting for something.
God keep this young soldier close and watch over his family so they may be comforted in their time of loss. Keep him in the hearts of all those that he has touched and keep him in the mind of his enemies so they know why we will never quit. Amen

Rest in Peace... From a fellow Former Marine.
God Bless and Rest in peace my Brother.

WE SHOULD START A FUND FOR HIS FAMILY. HOW MANY MEMBERS ARE HERE? IF WE COULD GET $1.00 FROM EACH MEMBER OR MORE WE COULD HELP PAYOFF HIS CAR OR SOME OTHER BILLS SO THAT THE FAMILY DOES NOT HAVE TO WORRY.

JUST MY THOUGHTS.
Such sad news. God bless him and prayers to his family.
Michelle and I have communicated a bit more and we'll soon be able to kick off our drive to have James' car completed per his wishes. We've got a couple minor details to iron out, but we're almost there. Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in donating to this cause. Michelle has already stated up front that if donations exceed what is needed, any extra will be given to charity.

Also, to our vendors out there, I hope to have an exact list of upgrades that James was wanting posted here soon and, if you would like to contribute to this effort by donating or offering a discount on one or more items on the list, please let me know via PM. Thanks!
Condolences to all of James's family ,and friends. We all have another hole in our hearts. Godspeed.
God bless him and my prayers are with his family.
I am a new member and came across this thread. I am glad to see how supportive and loyal you all are in remembering this young man. I have lost a lot of close friends myself. I am still on Active duty (14 years now) and am on recruiting duty in Naples. If any of you would like info on how to send care packages and such to the men and women over there, feel free to contact me. Some items that come in handy are: phone cards and toliet items. God bless America!!!!!

God Bless.
I don't know if this has been brought up yet or not but maybe it would be a good idea to do something for the family. Maybe a fundraiser or something at E-Town or some other meet and greet. I can tell you firsthand as I'm sure many of the other members can that losing a loved one over here in this is detremental(SP?) to a family. Probably the best thing you can do for family members of fallen troops is show support so that they know their loved one hasn't passed in vain. Maybe something for all the Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen?
I don't know how I missed this one. Godbless brother my prayers will be with your family in this time of need.
