You've developed a wierd sense of entitlement since you bought the car.

However, I do understand the frustration.

PCM's are VIN specific and must be programmed for your car. I'm sure that DCX would give them a hassle for replacing one from an inventory model when they needed to order one for yours.

That sucks though, I hope you get it quickly!

...thats where i get upset...
this had me roflmao

If you weren't upset last night then I'm a pink elephant.

As for taking a part off of a new car, how would you feel if you found out that YOUR car was used in this practice. Pretend you find out that say your left rear window motor was "borrowed" for another customers car. And when they R&R the door panel a clip was broken and just didn't quite get fixed. How would you feel?

Still want them taking parts off someone elses ride?

It sucks, and I'm sorry to hear it's happening to you, but this too, will pass. Oh, if it only has 148 miles on it, and even you never drive it, how come your stepdad was driving it?

That's entirely correct. The PCM's are a one time use deal; program them to a car's VIN and thats it. Its done. So pulling one from one of the cars on the lot doesn't do anything for ya.

Sorry to hear of your probs. At least it sounds like you've now got a plan of action.

That's a broad generalization.

Perhaps the particular individuals you're dealing with at your dealership are mismanaged, but to say Chrysler doesn't care is a little extreme.

If they didn't care, they would not have flown an SRT Engineer to my hometown and personally reprogrammed my car.

I think it all depends on who you're working with to resolve your issues.

ooops cant do that

That is sooooo against Daimler/Chrysler policy. New cars have to stay new, they can not be used as parts cars...would you buy one that had had parts picked from it, and then replaced later.....serial numbers wouldnt match..

If someone ever would have contacted me, fine.
But after five weeks of trying nearly daily to speak with anyone that has a clue ...
I'll never buy another DCX.
The customer service line basically told me to shove it earlier this week.

If it has truly been in the shop for 5 weeks for the same issue, that is grounds for a lemon law buy back/replacement. Stop calling DCX and call a lawyer.

As I said in other posts before, dealers are very nice and helpful when it comes to selling you a car, after that, you can die they don't care.
Having your car in the shop for weeks is none of their concern, they still get their paycheck and they have no problem going home because they have a running car, so your problems don't affect them, it's just another day for them, they're not your friend and they never will be.

if they were to borrow a PCM from a stock vehicle, yours wouldn't even start. once programmed to a vehicle, the PCM looks to match it's programming to the SKIM code. if they don't match, car won't start. while some parts can be "borrowed", the PCM is not one of them.

how long did it sit on their lot before you bought it? was it damaged then?

a PCM is like a light bulb. it can fail right out of the box or it can last forever. just be thankful it failed while under warranty.

seems a rather jaded opinion.

Just for completeness sake. PCMs can be reVINed, so to speak. Dealers are taught that it "burns" the VIN, and can never be changed, but thats not so. By following the "Replace PCM procedure" in the book, and used PCM can work fine in another car.

The SRT-4, which als uses the NGC, has been doing this for years now. Still need the Starscan, still need the new cars PIN, but it works fine. That said, I dont agree with taking it from a lot car.

I had an issue with my PCM and they replaced it and my car worked like a charm. Your harsh opinion about your dealership is justifiable but to state all of them are as bad as yours is too much of generalization. The dealership that took care of me wasn't even the folks I purchased it from. They are in Columbus Indiana. Great people.
