Pictures taken early in the morning before the car was completely detailed. Did they bother coming over and talking to me about it? Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, NO! (Don't tell them I got the trophy for Best Paint at this show.)

Thanks. He may be a perfectly nice, helpful guy. In this case, I think he just went about it in the wrong way. I would have been happy to talk to him about it and listen to his advice. He should have also gotten some info from me before posting the pics. I guess he figured it would never get back to me.

He was obviously looking for some "content" with which to write about. I've seen (and ridden in) this car in person and it is drop dead gorgeous. Being a car person, if he was at all, he should have come over to talk to you and complemented you on your car then stood back to learn something. I'll be he drove a Ford or Chevy...maybe a Prius.

Thanks, Chuck. I'm not sure what he drives, but evidently he's a big deal on Auto Geek Net. I agree with him that the tire spray looks bad on the pavement, but when you're in a hurry after driving an hour to a show, you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm not sure that Barry MeGuiar would appreciate the comments about his messy and toxic tire spray.

If your in a bind for time, use a sponge. Spray the sponge with the tire dressing and apply a nice neat shine to the glossiness that YOU like. Since the level of tire shine is a personal preference, you can make it as shiny or dry as you like.

Also, I use Meguiars Hyper Dressing. It's a great product that you can mix with water to the level of shine you like. You can purchase it in a big jug and it will last you a while. It's a simple to use and clean product.

I know just a little about detailing.

Gotta admit, it isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but considering I have over 52,000 miles on it and it's my grocery getter, it still doesn't look too shabby. I do take care of it.

I went to a detailing class hosted by Mike when he worked for Meguiars. Seemed like a guy that luved his job. I bet if you reached out to him you'd find he was a good dude that could be helpful. at least your famous

I did send him an email saying basically the same thing but haven't heard back from him yet. I was sitting right by my car so it would have been nice if he had said something at the time. No harm, no foul.

Update. I got several very nice PMs and an apology from Mike Phillips. He's also sending me a free copy of his book on detailing. All's well that ends well and all is forgiven. :thumbs_u:
