From what I understand, ESP is not affected at all. The stock 'puter program will reduce timing at the shift point (reducing the torque applied to the tranny) giving you a "smoother" shift. I saw some dyno graphs from GIFO4 without the SC FP installed, and the drop in applied ponies is significant. The SC FP changes this and is very noticable when driving. Also, the 91 tune will advance the timing just a little more, giving you more HP as well (not much, but not zero either).
For me, the SC FP was/is the best bang for the intial mod buck; although, I am one of those persons in SoCal that has pinging issues with the fuel out here.
