Tazer Loan

3665 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  SuperSound
Is anyone willing to loan me their Tazer? In watching the video to put everything back to stock I apparently misunderstood the procedure. I hit reboot instead of unmarry... then sold my unit. I live in Metro Detroit if anyone can meet up (shouldn't take anymore than a few minutes).

If you can't meet up and still want to help I can alternatively pay for shipping each way (USPS overnight). Hope someone can help!

you will have to marry a new one to your vin
Yes, but with the latest update you can marry/unmarry on the spot (vs having to send the tazer to ZAuto). So whoever loans me theirs will (granted they're shipping) have to: unmarry, ship, I'll marry, change to stock settings, unmarry, and return ship. It'll probably take 3 days or so to overnight both ways. The original owner will have to re-marry and re-put his original settings in. It's pretty much inconvenient for everyone so I don't expect 100 people to lend a hand lol but it beats me having to spend $250 to do one simple task. I otherwise don't need the darn thing lol.
I don't think what you want to do will work, when you marry it copies your "stock" settings and then when you unmarry it rewrites the stock settings back in. If you try to marry now it will copy what your car is now (not stock)

also how long ago did you sell your tazer? I would imagine the new owner is not able to use it since it is still vin locked to your car.

Not long, I already reached out to him and told him I didn't unmarry properly. He said he was familiar with the tazer and could probably work around it (I doubt it lol). If he had issues I told him to overnight to me and I'll comp the shipping fees both ways. So, there's a good chance he'll send the item back by this weekend and I won't have to get a loaner. If he's anal though and doesn't ship it back ZAuto will unlock the thing for $40 and I'll be SOL...

I was under the impression you needed to marry to adjust the settings. I'm guessing you don't have to? If not can I guess I'll just plug whatever tazer I get in and cycle through all the options and set everything I changed back to stock settings. I found a list on this forum that shows what all the stock settings need to be.
You do have to marry to change settings, but when you marry it saves a copy of your original settings so that when you unmarry it can restore the original settings. I'm guessing that if you marry a different tazer (if it would even let you since your car already has a device married to it) it would copy the settings they are as now and if you make changes then try to unmarry it would set it back to what you have right now. Of course I'm just guessing and making assumptions, I would contact zautomaotive and see what they say to do.

My money is on not being able to do it without the original Taser. But i'm a Trinity person. WDIK.

Did you save the original somewhere. I advise everyone do that along with any custom tunes. I fubared my trinity at the track once, and only got the car running because AJ was there and he contacted Arrington for all my files. Now i carry a memory stick with all tunes including my stock on it.
Definitely best thing is to get his back to help him and the guy he sold it to out. If not surely we have some members in MI willing to help out.

*Correction: Don't think any settings can be modified without marrying with the latest firmware.
