mod in mind for the future...

is there any way to switch the key in my 05 magnum to that of an 08+ LX?
if so, could i get the key with the X2 for remote start rather than using the lock-unlock-lock method. And is it possible to get the remote trunk popper like the one in the charger/300C? I know theres some hard wiring to do for the front button as well, but i would like it in the key.

Something tells me adding the new style key would be a real pain if it's even doable.

My remote start has it's own fob that I press to start it. It's a Mopar fob so I'm guessing it's factory.

mine is factory. It uses the stock key, and theres no remote start button. all i do is press lock, then unlock, then lock, and the hemi starts right up.

Interesting. I wonder if mine is a Mopar add on.

well at least as far as i'm aware its factory...i bought used so its hard to really tell but since the dealer says factory i'll have to go with that :)

I think it's like uConnect, using different devices if its a dealer add-on vs. a factory add-on. could be wrong though

I used to do the 'lock-unlock-lock' sequence until one day when my daughter hit lock twice and it started! I fiddled around, and realized that if click 'lock' then pause for two seconds and hit 'lock' again it starts the same way. - Just another way to start the car. - Remote start is the best during the Northeast winters.. My wife still wants me to install it in our Expedition

i've tried that, doesnt work as reliably as the lock unlock lock. but yes, if i'm feeling REALLY lazy (lazier than having remote start in the first place that is), then i only hit lock 2x

no the 2008 canbus system is different, the wireless control modules are different the wiring is different..

in order to change over you would need a 2008 front power distribution center, the TIPM (totally intergrated power center) which replaces the FCM on the older cars..

also need the Vehicles systems interface module and the Wireless ignition module and oh yeah probably the body harness off a 2008, as well as the PCM for RFID sync..

oh and you need to change your VIN to a 2008 VIN cause after doing all that work the cars network will still not to allow those items to work because it is not encoded to your VIN config file from Chrysler.

yeah I looked into this awhile back.. it MIGHT work if you changed over everything.. MAYBE, but at a cost of around $8000 - $10,000 I'll stick with my key..
