I'm sure it was fun! is that the WS fairgrounds?
Seems like a very open course.
Thans for sharing this.
Yes, it was the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds in Winston Salem, NC.

It was a very fun well laid out course. Very easy to follow which shows how rusty I was with 2 DNF's. I haven't Autocrossed in about 15 years and back then I ran 2.2 Turbo FWD Dodges. This things is quite different. So I'm pretty much a Novice all over again.

Triad Sports Car Club held the event and where super nice & helpful. I'll definitely be going back.

That's hysterical!! I used to run Dodge Shadows with the 3.0's in them.

Triad is who I used to run with. I went to their event at Danville (just to watch) and it's a whole new crew. Still bought a shirt to help them out though, the new crew is great!

Wow really?

That's interesting. Here is the 3.0 Dodge Shadow my Father used to Auto-X: 92' Dodge Shadow "Race Car - AutoCross" (Barn Find) FWD Mopar! With Special Surprise Guest! - YouTube

We pulled it out from the barn after it was left sitting for about 15 yrs. Towards the end of the video there are some pretty good shots of of the custom suspension parts he made for the car.

Are you still in North Carolina?
Not in NC any more. We moved to Texas about 10 years ago. My older 2 sons still live there, right on the VA line. One's in Yanceyville, the other is in Eden.

I had probably 8 Shadows over the years, even brought one on the move to Texas and just sold it for a couple years ago.

I was super active on the Yahoo 3.0 groups and even did custom ported intake manifolds and throttle bodies for some guys on the forum.

I did a little tweaking to the suspension on my favorite green machine, but kept it as stock appearing as I could to keep it in Street Prepared class and not have to move up. Then, when I found out it could keep up with mustangs in a straight line, I kind of faded away from the road racing and started drag racing it.

The one we brought to Texas, I paid $150 for, fixed it with spare parts and drove it for almost 12 years before we sold it. Still had the "Saturday afternoon $150+ beers" paint job on it lol

Very cool stuff! Thanks for sharing!

I always thought the Shadow was a good looking body style. It sure looks good in purple!
I had much better pics of it on Cardomain (that's how long ago it's been) which showed the progress from bring home to complete. I just found out Cardomain is owned by Motortrend now, so I guess those pics are gone.

That phone was old back then so the pics sucked. It actually turned out really good for 4 drunks sanding, priming, scuffing, color and clear on a Saturday afternoon...all before the March madness games started lol. $165 in materials from CarQuest got it done.

I loved the look of the AP bodies. They were fun little cars.
