I live in a descent size town of @ 100,000 people and we have a 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile track around here. I am wanting to open up a small performance shop and dont know really where to start. As someone who owns their own biz I would advise you to go for it.

Risk is essential in order to get ahead! You must step ouside your "comfort zone".

I was told nothing but negative crap, and my biz has grown no less than 12% per year since it's inception.

If there are any hills near you I would suggest running for them.....the markup margins on performance products suc.....

You may want to do alot of research on how/if the planned 2010 emissions regulations will impact the performance industry as a whole.

Also, at this point in time, with most people pulling back from 'play' spending, there may not be as active a market as you think.

Well, I am currently working in the oilfield industry, and dont get me wrong its good money and all. I just am not happy working in this industry and want to do something i know i will be happy doing.

some market research wouldn't hurt.

And you'd need to price to compete with the intertubes, or at least be in the ballpark.
