I'm wondering if there are people out there that own a STARSCAN device besides the dealer. I recently install fog lights on my SXT and need them activated via the STARSCAN tool. My local dealer wants to charge me $100 to do it. I figured that's their minimum charge for hooking up the device. If I have to go that way, I guess I'll have them flash my PCM to fix the flickering headlight problem too. However, I would like to look for less expensive options for enabling my fog lights and possibly doing this flash. I know with my old car (VW) there were several people in the area that had the necessary tool to interact with the PCM. I'm hoping the same is true for my Magnum too.

There are a few of us out there......I am not sure who has one near you but if there is someone I am sure he will chime in.
So then you have one? Reason I ask, is Im unsure if the 09 GCSRT8 has daytime running lights, I dont want them cause I will have AAC halos on instead.

Your Much better off with a Star Mobile. It is faster and the software works off your laptop. It is useless for flashing unless you have the files. It will only Down Load them if you have a Chrysler id and Password. Or if you know someone who does, the flashes can be put on a usb device and saved to the software. As far as restoring complete vehicle configurations though it is necessary to connect to chrysler direct with the tool and the car.
Hope this helps

I got lucky. When I had my fogs enabled I just went back to the dealership where I bougt my car (Luther Brookdale Chrysler/Dodge) and the did it for me for free. It took less than a minute to scroll through the menus on the handheld in parking lot at the front entrance. Service manager said he "didn't feel right" charging so much for something so easy...............like I said, I got lucky.

Let me add some emphasis to what HemiTuner said... Do not buy StarScan, only buy a StarMobile. The StarScan is now being phased out with the latest WiTech software. Only StarMobiles and the new WiTech "Pods" will be supported.

Also, individuals can get the flash files with a subscription to TechAuthority. You do not have to have an actual dealer code. You can do TA subscriptions on a daily basis for $20. I do this every 3 to 6 months just to pick up the latest flash files and software updates.

the last disc update was 8.05 and you need that to go higher, everything since has been internet download..

I have 8.05 if anyone needs it, and I have a source to continue to get the disc updates if they are needed (as they have been in the past every so often)

Does this 8.05 work for 2010 Challengers? I have a starscan it works fine on my 2009 Challenger but won't connect with my wifes 2010 Challenger I have 9.05 on my starscan as of now.
starscan is no longer supported and will not communicate with 2010 & newer models. you'll need either a starmobile or witech.
