OK, so I photochopped a picture of Tony's Mag, since his is the only black one I know of that has a satin hood...(hope you don't mind Tony)
And I tried with my basic PS skills to see what it would look like with just the cowl done in Satin....and I think I like it! I think this is how I'm going to go...old school muscle.
Here's a couple of PS'd photos...
Is there a different clear coat process they use to keep the Satin from looking gloss?
What do you think guys?

Here's another one, but I added the 345 in red on the hood...
What do you think?

Don't like it :-( Personal opinion, the flat black on other colors looks like it's meant to stand out in a 'yeah i'm fast' kind of way. Flat black on a black car though, to me, looks unfinished... like you didn't get around to the last coat of paint and the clear. Just my .02.

Are you considering a horizonal stripe (same color) to complement the scoop?
I think that's what I would be planning if I colored the scoop of the RK Hood. Maybe a strobe stripe or single strip bordered with a pin stripe. Check some Mopar late 60's and early 70's stripes on Chargers and Roadrunners, etc.

I like your muscle "statement" on the hood. Look of power!

This month's Car Craft magazine has an article on how to paint your hood satin black. They sell that mag at Advance Auto around here - probably other auto part stores too.

I like the look, but I tend to agree with Super T about the color. How are you finishing the back part against the winshield? You could go old school and put turn signal indicator lights in there if it is visible from inside. Just a thought.

I really like it alot! If it were mine though with that hood and color, I think I would stop at the body lines that come up from the grill. Leave the very outside edges of the hood body color.

Not sure what you mean. Can you clarify..I can always use another option!
Do you mean to extend the satin black to the hood seam in the front of the cowl?
Right now I can only afford to get the hood painted, so I'm limited with my options to extend onto the rest of the car.
