I officially got my ship date - Leaving to Lackland AFB 1 Oct 2013. Eglin AFB for EOD to follow. Jump School on contract as well. Should be a fun time.

Might be off a little but it's my understanding after completing 16 HALO jumps Navy personel are authorized to wear basic HALO wings.

5. HALO Parachute Jumper. A HALOparachute jumper is a member
of any rating or grade who meets the following requirements:
a. Is a qualified parachute jumper as defined in block
titled "Static-Line Parachute Jumper."

b. Successfully completes the prescribed program of
instruction while attending a formal, interservice training
facility including a minimum of 16 HALO jumps.
c. Be assigned or attached, under competent orders, to a
Navy organization whose mission includes the requirement for
frequent and regular participation in HALO operations or have as
part of their military duty the authorization to engage in P3
operations.
6. Requalification Procedures
a. Requalification procedures are to perform one or more
parachute jumps during any 3 consecutive calendar months, unless
prevented from doing so by
(1) limited duty status for medical reasons,
(2) military operations (including operations under
other than combat conditions), or
(3) absence of jump equipment or aircraft.
b. Wheneverconditions are such that the required jumps
cannot be made in every quarter, the minimum requirements may be
met by performing 4 static-line, free-fall, or HALO jumps during
a period of 12 consecutive calendar months, and such
requirements may be met any time during that period.
c. All officer and enlisted parachutist with an officer
designator or Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) associated with
a Navy community whose mission requires static-line, free-fall,
or HALO operations (i.e.; 1130/5326 SEAL, 1140/5337 EOD), should
maintain qualifications when assigned to shore or neutral
duties.
NOTE:Specific requirements for incentive pay for parachute
duty are found in DoD 7000.14-R, volume 7A, chapter 24.

Ah - the Navy doing things their own way as usual. Everyone else says if you pass the school you wear the wings. When my friend went through CCT pipeline they were sent to HALO and did like 52 jumps before the end of the actual school. That was about 10 years ago though - I hear things have changed alot when it comes to schools.

Either way - It's awesome he's gone and done (and continues to do) - hopefully I'll get there one day. I got jump on my contract so I can petition to AFSOC when I complete tech school.

... after Jared was assigned to EOD mobile unit 3 at Coronado he went to Halo school in San Diego, Ca. I'm pretty sure Jared receives Jump pay, and Halo pay.

Yeah - back when my friend went through HALO they only did training in VA. and then followup at Yuma Proving grounds. The Navy has since gone and opened their own in Southern CA where SEAL teams and 19th Group SF jump.

"Combat Zone Under Water Post Blast" Now I call shenanigans... I've been an EOD tech for over 10 Years, even an instructor at one point. Getting ready for my 4th Combat tour and never once have I heard of a need for such ridiculousness. I mean seriously are many things under water being targeted with IEDs as of late?

This has been dead for a while so I'll add to it. Last year my son had made Specialist, earned Soldier of the month, went to warrior college and got Soldier of the quarter. He just re-upped for 4 more years. He is going to relocate with his soon to be wife. Very proud and happy for him!

Jared came back from Iraq this last March 2015, he hit Iraqi soil again today being deployed with Seal Team 3.

Let's wish him, and his team a safe return!!

Here be one of me, pretty darn near the end of my career, finished it our training Recruits at Great Lakes, Illinois. (2nd time doing that as I loved it)
