I've noticed since I install my MP remote start that the range on the RKE is greatly reduced. Seems to be more of an issue when the remote starter is running, is this common?

craig, some of us have noticed something along the same lines. think is has to do with RFI interference or even the fact that the car may just be ignoring the RKE once started. in my experience its intermittent.

Ah ok, it's no big deal, I just want to make sure that I didn't bugger something up.

Happening with my newly "Dealer" installed Remote Start... need to be next to the car for the doors to unlock... weird. :banghead:

I've had no issues with reduced range.

i had the same issue..

I fixed it by relocating the remote start antenna that wraps around the WCM antenna (that grey thing you had to stick to the black ring)

i put the remote start antenna on the INSIDE of the ring..

everything works 100% and the RKE range is a good 300 feet or so..

you will always get the RKE battery low error on the EVIC though when starting with remote start, because the remote start SKREEM module doesn't send out the battery signal.

Never got the RKE low battey error in my EVIC. Must be the extended EVIC with the TPMS readout instead of the idiot light... the 300C is an upscale LX after all

What is this WCM antenna and wrap around? I have the extended range remote start module from Dodge with a black box and 2 rubber antennas mounted on the windshield just above the mirror.

Here's a tip to help you get extended range from your remote, sounds crazy - but it works.

TIP:

Hold the remote under your chin and have it and your body pointing towards your car, press the key on the remote.
It should give you more range.............. enjoy.

the ignition has the WCM antenna wrapped around it to pick up the RFID from the key, it is a black plastic circle around the ignition switch (you need to remove the dash panel to see it)

the remote start has an antenna that wraps around that module so send the RKE (RFID) to the ignition module (like holding the key in front of the ignition switch)

it has nothing to do with your remote start range antenna, this is the SKREEM module that sends the learned RFID to the cars PCM.

with the SKREEM module antenna wrapped around the SKIM module antenna it reduces the RKE distance..

as for the RKE error in the EVIC, it is there, it happens with ALL remote start units for the LX modules 2005 thru 2007, you probably never see it because it times out before you get in the car, the RKE error has nothing to to with the WCM's for the TPMS, 2 entirely different systems and different modules.
