Rear VES wire harness splice?

8388 Views 10 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  P_Baby_300c
has anyone just spliced in the rear ves into there system?

my ves only came with half a harness (wires were cut no connectors at the radio end)
instead of buying a new harness cant i just splice in

ive got an 05 rt with a Mygig/lockpick with the av harness
seems like it would be an easy splice into the lockpick wires
anyone have a wire code chart for the ves?

Sure, you could do it. 3 wires for audio, 2 for CAN, 2 for power. You might even get lucky on this. Some of the 05's had a fully populated 10 pin connector (VES/Sirius) that actually went to a connector behind/above the drivers kick panel. You can actually unhook it there and pull it back to the center. I think some of the 05's had it put in as a planned connection for VES - before VES actually started shipping. When they started shipping, the actual connection was done in the center stack and went down the console, so the wiring to the kick panel was unused. It was discontinued in late '05 builds.

Thats fantastic! exactly what i was looking for
thanks JonW
Ill try this tonight
well i got it all hooked up
glad to see it power up and it seems to work fine
except i cant hear the audio through the mygig
I don't have any headphones or a remote yet
do i need the remote to switch the audio on or volume up?
or should i be able to hear it
Ive gone through the wires a few times im confident they're in the right places
just 1 spare wire from the ves "shield" wire, not sure where that should go?

while I was at it i installed the rca out so i a see the video on the mygig
very nice
The wiring layout I posted was for the original VES to REC 10 pin connector. I overlooked the fact that you are using the MyGig unit. The 10 pin on the MyGig is only for the microphone and iPod interfaces. You should take pins 4, 7 & 8 (from the REC 10 pin) and route them into the LockPick AV harness. Is that what you did? You'll then need to go to the VES setup screen in the MyGig unit and select the power on option to enable the input.
Yeah that was it
I pulled that plug out and connected the 3 wires to the av harness
job done
the colors i had on my ves harness were different than the color chart
but the pin # or location was right
Thanks for you help
Kids are luvin it
Sorry about missing that detail the first time around.
Good to hear it's going. :thumbs_u:
Hi there, on the VES, I see 10-pins, not 12:

There's a 12 pin plug (2x6) on the VES unit for plugging into the standard VES harness.
Got it working! Pretty awesome!

Did this this past weekend. Pulled a complete VES with the OEM harness from a donor car. It was a 06 300c heritage edition with factory sat. radio, w/BA8 audio system and the REC unit. Added into my 06 300c which has a lockpick and RHR mygig combo. My car had the 10pin behind the dash/radio. Spliced in some RCA's into the DVD audio wires following the above, plugged into the lockpick, and viola! All works as it should. Thanks for the great info.
