After owning her for 2 years, I took my '05 RT to a buddy's car lot on Wednesday, trying to tighten up some of the excess expenses in case business falls off this year, but I couldn't do it. I called the dealership today and told them I was coming to get her tonight. I just knew that was a decision I would regret for a LONG time! I'll just have to tighten up somewhere else. Anybody wanna buy a slightly used wife? :)

Doesn't it seem odd that a $32K vehicle is worth only $11K after four years? That's over $5K depreciation per year. We tried to trade our Magnum in with 42000 miles on it and were offered $8K. I decided that if that's all it's worth we can keep it for two years, throw it away with 70000 miles on it, and still be ahead!!! It makes you look at Honda Accords!!!

Nah, I traded my Honda Accord in on my Mag, they gave me 3k over book for it. Either they liked my V-6 w/ all options Accord, or they REALLY wanted to ditch the Hemi.

I bought it used in December '06 from Legmaker72 for $24k (which was a kick ass deal, especially considering all the mods) with 12k miles. My dealer buddy just told me last week that with the current mileage (42k), and options that it books for $13.5k retail. That SUCKS! That was a big factor in deciding to keep it. It just should not be that low, but I guess between the economy and Chrysler killing the Magnum, it is what it is. I'm still glad I kept it. Kicked it sideways out of the dealership on Saturday after rescuing her :). I LOVE my car, and couldn't be happier. On a good note, I'm going to refinance the 11k I owe to cut the payment in half. That helps with cash flow at least.

They say hindsight is 100%. I bought my r/t in June 08, I love this car, put about 4 grand in mods, here it comes, got laid off on December 2-08, waiting for pogey. Will try very hard not to let the r/t go, car is paid for, but the house is not. Have to check out all options, who would have thought an auto/diesel tech would be out of work, sorry had to whine

If you like you car then who cares about resale. Your car is not an investment. Its transportation and fun. Like a house is somewhere to live and should not be a bank account like most people saw it.

I want a Challenger so the resale sucks but I am just going to pay my car down before I get the Challenger and deal with it.

Or spend 5600 on a supercharger for the magnum. Ok I better stop day dreaming.

Absolutely right!! Dodge has axed our beloved machine, but I'm still looking to buy another one in the near future just because I LOVE these cars and there's nothing out there that gives me such a mix of performance, economy, utility, and practicality. If Rick doesn't get rid of his before I get home, I'm gonna try to keep his in the forum....
