Dust is not bearable, going to order powerstops, I️ had z23 on the scat but I️ see they have a z26 track version... anyone know what the real difference is? They must be better right?

If you've never had track pads...get ready.

They won't fade and will bite like a gator...but only after they warm up. Sudden/emergency stopping when they're cold WILL make you pucker up!

ok... so that sounds good I think? What does that mean for real world? I will never see the track but I think the z23's had times where they struggled from fade just after long drives...
so is it better to get the z26's?

I have the z26 kit on my car. It replaced some squeaky hawk pads that came with the car when I got it. The pads bite hard and have zero dust. The only time I've heard them make any noise is when I first press the brakes after I go to the car wash but it's rare. I haven't had any bad experiences with them when they are cold but I do take it easy when i first start driving

ok cool... yea I see z26 which are carbon & ceramic and then I see z17 which is just ceramic, then I see z23 which is also carbon and ceramic.
So i guess the z26 is the best one for our cars and situations?

Going to order the z26’s. The website only goes up to 2017 but I imagine they are same as 18?

Yes all the same. Z26 compound supposed to be the same as Z23, not exactly sure the difference. Some said Z23 has rubber backing, didn't notice any rubber on my Z23. Neither pad is a track pad, seriously keep your stock Brembo pads for track, the Z23 and Z26 and mild street pads by comparison.

I've heard exactly the same. Z23 & Z26 are the same pads, but the Z23 has a rubber layer on the back, the Z26 has a steel shim. Supposedly the rubber keeps it quieter, and the steel back handles high heat better (but not track level heat!). I've had no problems with the Z26s on my Daytona (noise, grip, dust, fade). Agree, do not use either Powerstop pad for the track!

Interesting, so the powerstop track pads are Comparable to the brembos? What about dust??

So what is the final condenses here? Live with dust and have better braking or eliminate dust but not as good

Unless you are going to the track I'd go with the Z23 or Z26.
Does anyone know the model number for the stock pads that come with the 6-piston Brembo brakes?
The front is 1405 and the rear is 1053 so if you want the Z23 pads you would order the Z23-1405, for Z26 it would be Z26-1405. The rears would be the same, just put the pad number in front of 1053. I only changed my front pads to Z23, left the rears alone as they barely dust.

Oh wait, you want the stock Brembo #s? Sorry don't have that.

are you replacing the stock pads with stock pads again? You aren't considering the power stops? just curious and why...... I know the brembo's work better but man the dust is killing me lol.....

I made it about 2 weeks with the stock pads and had enough of the brake dust. I went with the z26, Summit has a pretty good price on them. I drive the car pretty normal so I can't say I even noticed a difference between the two. As far as dust, HUGE difference!

Thanks for this,...I think you are right, probably not much performance difference but no dust helps a lot lol...

just went to their site however it does not show for 2018, I imagine they are identical to 2017 and will fit/work fine? I'm going to order the z26's very soon

funny I called Powerstop, and they couldn't confirm the z26-1405 is correct for a 2018 charger with 6 piston brembos.... While I believe they are the exact same as 16 and 17's, can someone actually confirm this for sure? ordering anyways as I'm 99% sure they are the identical setup...

Best mod ever. Love the Z26 pads. No dust and they bite great for a daily. I don't track the car so not really worried about the Brembo "bite".

I did the Z23 and love them. Mine are 6-piston and just did the fronts, 2 pins and a bolt and pads come right out, caliper stays in place. These are race brakes designed for quick pad change in the pits! :D

Oh and I'd order the 17 pads for 18, never heard about any changes and I bet they are identical.

I recently installed the Z23s and replaced my 4-pistons Brembo pads. I loved how they stopped but could not sit through any more squealing. Surprisingly I didn't have much issue with brake dust. The Z23s definitely have a softer feel to them even during daily driving, but not to an extent where it pisses me off. No noise though!

Easy install, no need to remove caliper. I spent more time jacking my car up and removing the wheel than the actual pad replacement.

That's one thing I think Dodge did right from day one, even on the first gens the actual pad swap is quick and painless.

put the z26's on today, but I think I messed up and must have put the top pins in wrong dammit....
It won't let the pads back out again and they are pressing against the rotors a little, have to take it apart again tomorrow to fix lol.. hated.... don't have tool here still have to drive back like that to my cousins house to take apart...
they feel good though and NO dust hahah... back into the garage tomorrow... hope that drive doesn't mess up the rotors

ha, we put the clips on upside down and they were pressing, thankfully against the top of the rotors not the face so no damage done, just sounded awful for a day lol...
whatever now that they are fixed, there is no sound and they feel great. I bedded them in as they indicated and so far so good. they feel same as the brembos but zero dust so far! let's see how they perform when they get heated up a bit....

on the scat, I was not so impressed with the z23's on the 4 piston brembos... when they got hot they seemed to "shake" and make some noise (and the rotors were brand new same time as the z23's).... I hope this combo is better as I think the z26's have a metal back which should help handle the heat a bit better...

I guess no matter what the zero dust and cleaning the rims every single day is worth whatever loss in performance there might be ... they didn't even make it a day which is less than 100 miles, without being filthy.....

These feel great so far. You have stock rotors I assume? And you did the break in?

These z26's already feel better than my z23 that I had before although it may be also the 6 piston vs 4 piston?

I called power stop and they said that the 26 metal backing can disparate heat better although the rubber backed 23's will be quieter...

Ordered the z23's after this thread! Good information!

Quick question regarding install, is there a torque setting listed for the 13mm bolt that's removed to get to the pads?
Ha that's a good question I was wondering the same.... I just tightened it full with the impact air gun as I dont want that ever getting loose. I also torqued the Lugs to 120 as there is some co fusion in the manual from scat pack to srt with no setting for Daytona rims lol, unless I missed it. Srt shows 130 and scat pack shows 111 if I recall so I went in the middle lol.

Btw, it's a lot easier to do the pads in my opinion if you take the caliper off the disk as it seems you are doing or you wouldn't ha r asked about that bolt. That being said, I have seen videos whereby people ha he then without removing the caliper.
