Thought it would be a good idea to crank a few doughnuts in the near empty parking lot after work today, and suddenly I could smell something burning. Shut her down and popped the hood. the front of the engine is covered in power steering fluid, and the pump groans when I turn the wheel. Too cold and pissed at myself to investigate where it's coming from any further.

Yep, Im a victim of this happening as well. Same exact story and everything.

Was a little slick out one night after it had rained a little bit and I had a secluded, private, blacktop parking lot all to myself..... whatd ya think I was gonna do?!?!?

Cranked quite a few doughnuts with the wheel turned all the way over, and apparently thats too much pressure for the pump. Blew it..... thank god the car was udner warranty. This is a notorious problem for the LX's, so dont be worried soemthing off the wall just happened to your car.

In fact, IIRC, the burnout champ himself (Cam) keeps a spair power steering pump in the back of his Maggie just in case.... ;)

Probably doesn't help that it's -8 degrees out, tends to make things a little brittle.

Sorry to here about that Collin. Do you have somewhere warm that you can swap in the new one? Or are you gonna take it in to be done?

It'll work out, one way or another. I don't mind paying for my own stupidity. :blam:
