I purchased an AC to DC converter to power my Garmin GPS V so the batteries did not get used up while downloading the maps. Since I had the unit that produced 3 AMPS I decided to try some other DC items that I had.

The spotlight worked fine, but when I tried my DC powered air pump it ran at half speed.

I tried searching the internet to find out how many amps a standard vehicles cigarette lighter puts out, but I had no luck.

Anyone have any idea about the amps that a standard vehicles DC outlet produces?

Any suggestions on an AC to DC converter?
