Anyone know what the clearance between the pickup tube and the pan should be? I just did the old clay method and I have right at one inch. Stock pickup tube and pan.

1" equals more than enough.

Yea I’m sure it is, like too much!?! I thought it should be more like .250-.375”?
Are you using 6.1 pick-up and pan? I am assembling my 6.1 stroker and wondering if can use 5.7 pan and pick-up.
Yes; the calculation would be the (near) outer edge of the pickup screen diameter and the height to the bottom of the pan. Then, if you consider the ID of the pickup tube itself and that cross sectional area versus the invisible area created by the an invisible cylindrical wall from the screen area down to the pan.

Just a guess but that 1" inch height is 6-8 times the tube ID.

A lot of oil tends to loiter up top under hard / sustained acceleration (redline thru a number of gears). Conversely, that oil staying up top reduces crank windage...

It is just stock pan and pickup. Not sure about a 5.7l fitting the 6.1l.
05'-08'; (very) minor baffling in the 6.1 pan, otherwise interchangeable with 5.7.
Great! Blocks look identical except bore size and squirters.
