I actually got a break from being Mr. Incredible Single Father Super Dad this weekend, for about 3 hours as Emma (my daughter) wasn't feeling well so she took a long nap Saturday afternoon:
So I was kinda bored and decided to put some LED's into my center console to use as lights at night so I can see what's in there...
I bought a "normally closed" Momentary Switch for $2.95 and some generic 12volt LEDs at Pep Boys, all totaled this cost me under $10.00:
I drilled a hole in the upper left of the console, I used the spot where the rubber stoppers hit, as there was a mark from them already there:
Then I installed one light in the front toward the bottom, and one in the rear toward the top:
I then cut the ACC power port connector and spliced the switch into it, I opted to use the ground side as opposed to power since this is a small switch I didn't want to cause an electrical fire by over powering the switch.
It took some fine adjusting to make sure the lid would close, i ended up cutting the rubber stopper so it was flat, but now when the lid is closed the light is off and open the lights come on.
Unfortunately I couldn't find any white LED's so I opted for Blue, if I ever find some white ones I'll swap them out....
