Did anyone else read this. Looks like we may be saying by by to chrysler. I still cant believe that the hired Nardelli as ceo after he screwed up The Homley Depot. Why hire a man with a bad track record?

We as LX owners have got to face facts that we are also dinosaurs if we bought a Mopar. I love my 150,000 mile Magnum and my 105,000 mile Ram, best vehicles I have ever owned and I love everything about them. However 90% of people think Mopars are ugly unreliable gas hogs that will self destruct in 50,000 miles. That's why they buy Toyotas. Most people don't drag race on the weekends or drool when they see a 71 Hemi Cuda, they wouldn't know the difference between a Cuda and a Rambler. I love my Dinosaurs!

The US consumer is stupid. Wait, lemmie finish. I have friends my own age (mid-20's) that look at me like I'm crazy and say "Why would you buy an American car?" The vast majority of people think DCX still builds '91 Plymouth Acclaims and '92 Grand Voyagers, apparently. It boggles my mind how slow perception is to catch up with facts.

Despite all the doom and gloom talk, www.jayski.com reports that Chrysler has committed to sponsor Dodge in Nascar events this year, but with a 30% budget cut.

G.M. will again, (after 40 consecutive years) sponsor the Daytona 500, but at a "cheaper" price paid to Nascar than last year.

Cheers CANDYAPPLE:banana:

Why is it that the negative opinion of someone we never heard of is taken as gospel? Just wondering...

I just got to ask... What did Nardelli do wrong? What would you have done differently?

Frankly, this has been a long lead up... Of the big 3... they have the least efficient lineup, and just got slammed by the gas problems...

And then people kept on saying, they would fail, so no one bought in december

He was not there long enough to cause the damage. It had already been done. So perhaps this is an opportunity for him to become a legend like Lee.

At this point the media is just as responsible as the brands themselves for the giant sales decreases. All the public hears is how the big three are done, over and over.

So why would Joe Public buy a car from a company he keeps hearing is not going to be around to fix his car in a year?

Dead on. The media brainwashed an entire society. We have put life on hold and screwed ourselves. Consumer spending on credit cards and car loans went down by 10 billion dollars. That's the largest drop in history.

What is happening now is a self fulfilling prophecy.

Oh....IMO.

In the link from the OP:

"Last month, Chrysler showed off prototypes of a new 300 sedan, Charger performance car and Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as new, more luxurious interiors under development for nearly all of its products.Last month, Chrysler showed off prototypes of a new 300 sedan, Charger performance car and Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as new, more luxurious interiors under development for nearly all of its products."

Nardelli has done very wrong in the past. Not sure what he has done in the auto industry but in the retail industry he screwed himself. He is strictly a numbers man. No focus on customer service of satisfaction. When he took over home depot my business actually thrived. He tried to make everything cookie cutter in the industry and usually in most retail business especially contractor business it doesn't work. You cant sell j traps in california or cpvc. He didnt give the customers what they wanted or needed.

IMHO Lee was not only a great business man because he was good with numbers but he was also very hands on with every he did.

Sorry to ramble but ive got a personal thing with Nardelli.

As for a self fullfilled prophacy Id have to say thats also incorrect. In economics the first thing your tought is that the economy moves in cycles. It was just time. And one day there will be another great depression. Its the law of economics. But all this is my opinion so probably not worth much considering I got kicked out of my business class in college for proving my teacher wrong.

You pinned it 9guy9... its the leftist media that tries to control peoples opinions by shaping it to thier best interest...not ours. Its nothing but doom and gloom from them... same thing with the recession... a poll the other day said 70% of people think the media drove our economy into a 'worse' recession than would have happened due to thier bias doom and gloom reporting.. if people would just stop listening to them and use thier brains...we would be much better off all around.

Anyway.. back on topic... LONG LIVE MOPAR!
