Hey need another brain in this. Rebuilt and put in my 5.7 (with a cam), now shifting is non existent. It’s technically shifting, my shifter is acting normal, the correct gears are showing up on my dash (except autostick), and no fluid was lost during the swap. TC didn’t even come out. Battery was out for some time, all adaptives are reset.

I drove it forward and I had to rev it to get it to move. Same with reverse to back it up again. I’ve only gone forward and reverse.

Need to break in the motor. Need it to shift first. Only thing is the transmission wasn’t even touched during this swap. Do I just power through it and try to get some miles on it? I'm still trying to break this in so big rev's are a no-no right now.

Any ideas anyone?

Hmm...there should be DTCs (I'm sure you're aware of subset DTCs within the TCM's NVM)...

When I last checked I had nothing related to anything transmission. I’m going to check again here in the next hour or two and if anything somehow pops up I’ll be back. I’m pretty confident there is nothing.

UPDATE- no TCM codes or ESM (Electronic Shifter Module) codes.

You didn't have to disconnect the transmission lines running to the front of the car? You would have lost some fluid if you disconnected them.
I would double-check the quality of the fluid and check the level of the fluid.
You are correct I completely forgot about those lines. So yes, next step will be checking fluid.

Ok so an update but not really. I'm chasing this code U0114. I changed my TCM with another good unit. I unplugged the connector to the transmission and there was fluid in there. I got that all cleaned out and dry and reconnected. I'm still getting this code and I'm convinced it's my problem.

When I did some tests, I can change gears. I can upshift and downshift, according to AppcarDiag FCA- everything at the shifter is normal. On paper, in the TCM, everything looks good. Still- no TCM codes or ESM (Electronic Shifter Module) codes.

In my speedo display, I can change from Park to Drive, however when I autostick I'm not getting anything.

I've been inspecting wiring all over the engine bay, so far so good.

What should I be looking at now?

So what was the result of fluid level check?
My fluids are where they should be. I believe this is an electronics issue because while I can upshift and downshift in AppcarDiag FCA, and it's showing on the computer, it's not showing in my speedo cluster. Something isn't right.

I even went and got another Transmission Control Module out of an 06 300 and it made no difference.

I shouldn’t even have an FDCM, I’m not AWD.

I shut off that module and the code went away. I’m not getting anything and I’m getting worried the trans has an issue but I don’t know. It was all fine before when the valve seat dropped in the motor and we towed it home on a flat bed. TC never came out of the car. Still had fluid in it.

When I initially fired up the motor, it crept forward about a hundred feet. I put it in reverse and took it back. It was slow but it went. After that one single time I’ve got nothing.

When I check my fluid, it’s fine. Not burnt or low.

The thing that has me stuck on electronics and not mechanical is the fact I can’t up or downshift and have it show on my cluster. On AppcarDiag is all shows every time I + or - the shifter. It all shows. There is a signal. There’s life somewhere.

I can run diagnostics on it and get values on AppcarDiagFCA if anyone cares to help on this.

First a video

And some pictures

It says current gear is N however it was in drive when I logged this. Drive and sitting at idle

Ok update. I’ve decided I need to pull out the transmission. I think I may have not seated my TC in properly. I’ve concluded this because when I put it in drive, it’s actually in neutral- I can push it in gear. Same with reverse. So that’s where I’m at.

I don't know if that's it. You have input speed sensor readings in the same range as the engine RPM. This leads me to believe your TC is spinning.
If it was me I'd be looking into the conductor plate. It's a common part to fail and it has all the speed sensors for the transmission. The fact that your output sensor is out of range makes me think this part is bad. Your transmission will go into a limp mode which feels like it's in neutral no matter what gear you're in. What I don't know is why you're not getting a code for it but that U0114 code could be related.
That's just my thought thou.

Thanks for the reply. I put that one in 2019 when I did my AWD to RWD conversion, and since then the trans has been running like a champ. The conductor plate I bought new and put it in.

It's not actually in limp mode though, according to the screen. I'm going to record new data and I'll add the screenshots to the thread.

When it's in park, it's in park. When I put it in drive, I can push it forward and back like it's in neutral. Same as reverse. Of course the key has to be on to shift.

I'm so over this. This is too big of a job that I need to know for sure if this is electronic or mechanical. I still don't know why my autostick isn't showing in my cluster.

I'm back and forth on this.

These pictures are in drive, at idle.
