Hi everyone,

I'm not an owner yet, but i'm thinking about buying an '07 Magnum awd r/t.

I'd like to get some questions answered before I start to really consider it.

First, is the awd system a mechanical system or is it computer controlled?
I ask because my girlfriend has a Buick Rendezvous and the awd system has
gone out due to some module in the rear end.

For those who own an awd, how do you like the performance in bad weather?

These cars seem to have good reliability ratings, but I occasionally read about
a serious transmission issue. What would that be and is it preventable or
expensive?

I'm going from an '03 Intrepid SE and it's the biggest piece of s**t i've ever
owned. I won't hold it against Dodge, but i'd love to hear about what a better
car the Magnum is.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story, LOL!

Welcome, Matt from New York.

I don't know how the AWD system works so much other than it is a little different than most AWD set-ups as it still gives you the RWD feel because of the power distribution.

I've been able to drive in all weather, rain, snow, high winds ect and have been able to drive in conditions that I never thought I would be able to. I even think the AWD system is better than on a Subaru.

I think the transmission issue was only on 05's. Although others have had problems, most never do or have not had any problems. The water issue is an easy fix, and the seal leak is pretty easy also.

I've owned my Magnum for 2 and a half years. I started out with so many problems but after stopped going to the one service center, I have had no issues and really love this car. I have hauled a full patio set in the back, a lawn mower in the box, and a Weber grill in the box. not all at the same time of course, but with out any problems. I have also loaded it up with a ton of camping gear and gone camping for a week with my oldest son.

I have 1 year and almost 20K miles on my 07 R/T with no issues or complaints. We've been in deep winter mode and the snow & cold has not been a problem.

Welcome to the forum. I bought a new 1998 Intrepid ES, then a 2002 Intrepid ES and am now driving my winter car (Was my son's 2000 Intrepid SE) Nothing but good luck with all of them. BIG difference getting into an LX platform, though! Enjoy!

Hi everyone,

Hey Matt... I was one of those once...then FreeBird (the car) came along. Best LX decision ever! Good luck on your Maggie choice and look up the Valley "family" in the AZLXC section when you get your ride!

Welcome from Surprise/Wittmann!

P.S. We have several '07s in the group and I don't recall hearing any issues like these that you mention.

I have an 05 Mag RT and I love it. Great power and turns heads everywhere. I did have the trany guide seal leak issue and got that repaired under warrenty. Now she's in the shop getting the transmission rebuilt and new rack and pinion. All under warrenty. Again this is an 05 so I think the newer models got most of the bugs worked out. Plus I drive it like I stole it! It's hard not too...

From an Intrepid to a Mag R/T! It will blow the Sh*T right out of ya. I drove a 96 Explorer then hopped in the Hemi and now i cant stop burning gas like hell at every red light. You'll enjoy it
