Not sure of anyone LX specific, but the 2 I am using are Ron's Performance and Wrenchworks (used to be VWVortex).
where are these places located and do they do engine work? and are their install rates reasonable? thanks for the tips.

Wrenchworks is off Ward ave, turn right at Revolution Motorsports, the shop is on that street, on the right hand side. Tell them the guy with the Silver Challenger sent you!

Ron's performance is located on Ala moana Blvd, just before you get to Aloha Tower Market Place (from Ewa) Behind Baby Emporium. Its Big ass store with lots of Performance Goodies, even crate engines!

Both are great peeps. I have been taking my VW to wrenchwworks for years (Formally know as VolksGerman) But now with the name change they are authorized to do warranty work for all Manufactuers. Their rates are decent. I am pretty sure that Ron's does engine work, and I KNOW that wrenchworks does!

Expect to get quotes for 100-150 an hour. Your looking at about 10 hours for someone not used to these cars. IF I were you, I would hit the dealership, speak to a $hit hot mechanic ask to pay him on the side! win win situation!!!

I think I will be able to do it if I were to pull the heads, its just the pulling off of the pulleys and crap I dont have tools for. we'll see though. and also, are you getting rid of anything from your car before you ship it up? did you sell your afe2?

okay so I went down to wrenchworks and guess what they quoted me.....1300 for the cam install and 700 for headers.....thats not gonna happen. he said they went off of the dealership hours or something and stated that it takes 14 hours to do a cam install and 7-8 hours to do headers. no biggie, I should be able to handle the headers if im not lazy, and if it comes down to it I can always sell the cam....

Sounds like a long time for a Cam install!! Then again, I Know VW is much easier. I spent $600 for my headers and full exhaust at exhaust systems Hawaii on King.

Did ya tell them the guy with the Challenger sent ya? lol

they are also a great place to find out when MOPAR cruses are, the truckworld guys are accepting car guys for members!
im not really into going on cruises and stuff anymore and im not really looking to join any clubs. I just like to cruise once in a while with a smaller group and chill, hang out and talk story. and im guessing your talking about dodge ikonz. they are a fairly big group and I believe they have mandatory meetings and other stuff, definitely not my thing.

alpha pro- dodge ikonz gatherings arent mandatory, if you can make it, then you make it. if not, we understand since we do have priorities. but, if you ever could make it out to one of the gatherings, come ............

btw, what's your ride? i dont seem to remember if you mentioned what type of lx you drive. maybe i seen you on da road somewhere. kinda easy to remember my car since my screen name is my personal plates.:beerchug:
