Well my passenger side cat is blown out and clogging my catback. Since its pretty cold in the city here and with snow/slush and ice all over the ground, I spent most of the day hunting around for a shop that will put my car in the air while I *ahem* 'service' the inside of my cats....

...Man, I never realize how scared these shops were. After telling them what I wanted to do they all got nervous like I was some kind of undercover spy working for the state looking to take their license away, lol (even up in the bronx, where they usually will do anything for the right amount of money). I told them that I'd do the work, all I needed was some lift time.... but no dice...

So does anyone know of a less-than-scrupulous shop in the NYC area that will allow me access to my cats so I can... umm... 'service' them?

Worse case man, they're pretty easy to get off if you just get the car up on ramps or jackstands. You're going to have to completely remove the midpipes to do it, and you don't need much clearance to get them off of the car.

I went through the same thing out here in AZ a while back. The first two shops I went gave me a look like I just said "bong" in a head shop. Finally found one. My advise would be to search around, times are so tough right now I am sure there is someone that would love to make 40 bucks for them to you let you use their lift.

you can get the car on jackstands in 5 minutes.
i guess its kinda tough if you dont have youre own tools or a place to do it like a driveway or garage tho.

luckily the mid pipes are pretty easy to get on and off.

the worst part about the whole job is making sure the **** dont leak when you put it all together again.

yeah, these are pretty easy to reach with the car up on ramps or jackstands....just need a bit of an extension.

BTW, you could always tell them you are removing to clean them.....just don't exactly tell them HOW you are CLEANING THEM OUT!

Good luck!
