Going to have issues with the CD mech. after about 6 months. Unless you don't use the CD part of it.
Also there switchable 5 volt output is true with bass and treble turned all the way up. You will get a true 2 volts out of it.
Need to stay away from there amps... HORRIBLE!!!
Just an FYI... I turned down a job with them about 4 years ago because they are not what they used to be... as for quality...
plus they didn't want to pay me the amount I was looking for.. LOL

I love that Clarion but the cheapest i could find it for is like 800 bucks...but originally i was looking at this Clarion...second in the line up http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020D785USB/Clarion-DXZ785USB.html
still has the 24 d/a so im liking that idea as well as the 5.8V pre out...and seems to be a solid unit looking at the reviews.
what do you think??
personally i dont like video in car, etc and i love the pioneer units, ive had a few but they're getting to flashy and cheesy...i like a nice clean simple unit that delivers good sound. I was also looking at the McIntosh unit but not enough info out there on it...altough i know their home audio stuff is good

My buddy picked up a Nakamichi b/c it was one of the few aftermarket stereos that looks close to OEM in his V-dub GTI. And I'll admit, it matches the blue and red colors and the styling and everything. But hooooly hell does he hate it. CD player gives random read errors all the time, display flickers out once in a while, and it sounds like it's got crazy low bass and high treble boost with absolutely no mids, even when he EQ's it out to be the opposite. I don't know the model number, supposedly it was an imported model. But based on that one experience, I'd say be afraid.

That's a really nice cd player. Nakamachi usta make some really great stuff but not anymore I guess. 800 bucks is pretty steep though. You might be able to find one used at caraudio.com or diymobileaudio.com. You might want to check out some of the new eclipse decks. You said you don't want video in your car, are u going to keep the stock amp or go aftermarket?
