With 50/50 highway/city I had 26 MPG at the pump yesterday.

My friend that was with me for the trip said his Toyota Matrix would only do 28 to 30 MPH in 50/50 driving conditions. He is a more conservative driver then I am and is really impressed with the Magnum, and is talking like he might look into a Magnum on the next trade. :thumbs_u:

Now for the really good news.

I paid $2.54 per gallon.

Mine is not so good... 3.5 with 3100 miles on it. I've been getting about 18mpg city driving (with heavy stop and go traffic and a lot of zooming around moron drivers.) Without the morons, I'm certain that I'd be getting better mileage.

Oh well. I still love the Magnum!

It's probably the oil you use... what kind of that again? Where have you been BTW? Don't think I've seen an Old Navy post for quite some time... but then again, I'm not on here as much as Hammer (who is?)!

It's sad that gas is so ridiculously high that we consider 2.54 cheap. I remember paying under $1 not even 10 years ago. Thats how warped our perception gets when gas companies screw with the pricing like they do.

I can't believe you asked Old Navy about oil!

Thanks guys, between the Jeep Liberty forum and VW TDI forum, daughter & grandson moving in with us, the GS bringing everything home from day care to give me, I have either been busy or sick as a dog.

Still in love with Maggie, and I have as yet found a Toyota or VW that rides and drive's as well. No more FWD cars for me.

Only getting high 19 to 22 mpg with my SE. Mobil1 going in on this oil change. See if that helps.
I also run 41 PSI in the tires, OEM air filter, as far as oil filter goes I use the Mobil 1 synthetic oil M1-204 filter.

WHERE THE &%**$*#!! did you get gas for 2.54 a gallon?!?!?
I will mail you some coffee cans so you can send me some!
GREAT news on the mileage!! Way to go!!
I noticed the stop and shop that sells gas (yes it is good gas not fake cheepo stuff) dropped like 30 cents in the last week or so. TIME FOR THE MAG TO GET FAT ON HIGH TEST!

I have a Fram air filter (only one I can even find), is the OEM better?

I bought a whole case of K&N Gold oil filters online. Brothers 1500 Hemi, G/F's Charger, and Maganum all use the same HP2004.............

Have to concur with Old Navy...my SE runs on Mobil 1 0-40W, stock air cleaner and I get 22-24 combined, 25-27 Hwy. That's better than the PT Cruiser I traded her in on.

Gotta check my tire air pressure to eck out some more mpg.

Speaking of the prices of gas:

Did you guys know that they (the national financial bean counters) took the cost of energy out of the inflation rate calculation? They are making the inflation rate (AKA: cost of living increases) appear to be lower than they actually are by ignoring the added costs of fuels and energy.

I just found that out earlier today.

I'm not starting a political opinion discussion here, just pulling out something I just learned and seeing if anyone else was aware of this happening. It supposedly happened a few years ago.

cmdycrzr,

wow thats some pretty nice mpg Bill. You must be doing something right. The synthetic oil probably doesn't hurt either.

Well on a few runs of late I have been playing with mileage a bit.

On the run from Pottsville to home I got 27.5 with my steam roller foose wheels and tires. I swapped the stockers back on to tinker a little and got 29 running 65-70 on 95s. I didnt get to do a solid check ( only got to play a little over 10-20 miles between stop and goes ).

INtresting eh ?
