How long did it take you to wrap it in white and what brand of vinyl wrap did you use? I'm thinking of wrapping mine in satin blue, something not to far from the color of my magnum, so the door jambs and other interior parts don't jump out at you.

Looks great in satin white! I like the stripes too, very cool. I know it's a lot of work, but I think it's worth it...

Very nice job and really cool heritage concept! I like what you did with the black vent and it's matt black surround. What does the vent come from? Looks functional?

^^ Ford Mustang GT500 It's not that expensive on Amazon. He did a great job integrating it into the Magnum hood.

It took me about 3 weekends to do. I was lucky in that I had access to another vehicle so I could leave my Magnum parked. That way I wasn't having to clean it every time. It was about twice as long as I had thought it would be. But, it was a learning process. You have to figure things out as you go. The doors, roof, and tailgate were easiest to wrap. The bumpers took forever to wrap because of all the inlays and compound corners on it.

I used all 3M vinyl. I purchased mine from The World's Largest Wholesale Vinyl Wrap Supply Company | FELLERS. For the solid color I purchased a full 25 yard roll. With a satin blue color, that should be enough. I ran into issues because mine has pearl in it. That means that the vinyl all has to lay in the same direction in order for it to not look like different shades of white. Because of that, I had a lot of extra waste.

Thank you. It is off of a 2010-2014 Ford Mustang GT500. The vent actually gets a little lost with the black vinyl surround. But, with the heritage look that I was going for thats how alot of the stripes and decals were in those days, going with the lines of the body.

I positioned mine right up against the washer nozzles. You can see that better in this photo here:

^^^ Great info! I have a lot to think about! Any reasons why you chose 3M over Avery or VViViD wrap? I've watched a few YT videos on wrapping, including CK Wraps, FESTATV (world wrap masters), Color Wrapture and Ideal Media (Porsche wrap segment) for starters. I have a lot to learn, quickly, lol! Only thing I've ever done similar to this is wrapping the front end of a 350Z with a 3M clearbra kit. It turned out pretty nice.

All of my stripes that I have done previously (I think 6 or 7 different designs across two cars) I had always used 3M. I also watched a few vids on youtube comparing the three main brands. I think next go around I might give VViViD a try. I think Christian from CKWraps prefers VViViD over 3M.

I watched A LOT of CK Wraps videos. his videos are long, and sometimes he doesn't quite describe the technique he is using, but I did learn a lot from watching his vids.

Been a while, I hope all is well. I ended up ordering a dozen plus samples from MetroRestyling. The colors are so different from the pictures online. I've been placing the swatches on my car to see if I liked them over the past month, overcast, direct sunlight, amazing how the vinyl changes colors. My car is dark blue, I like it, so I bought 8 or so shades of blue (satin and matte finish).

I chose 3, now I'm trying to decide on one. Same routine, placing them on the Magnum with magnets and just imaging that vinyl all over the car. I like all 3, lol, it's not easy choosing.

-3M 2080 Matte Slate Blue Metallic Vinyl Wrap | M217
-Avery SW900 Supreme Wrapping Vinyl Film Matte Night Blue Metallic | SW900-623-M
-Avery SW900 Supreme Wrapping Vinyl Film Matte Blue Metallic | SW900-615-M

The colors are dark, especially the Night Blue. How do you maintain the vinyl or do you have a link to a maintenance routine that you found to be the best?

That is exactly the way to do it. The first time I thought about doing a full wrap, I wanted to go with a white/gold color combo. I love the Hurst colors. I did the same thing, bought several samples and they do look different in the various light, etc. You definitely need to see it to really get a sense of the colors. Here's some from my first rounds of testing on the white/gold. The off-white, almost cream color, is the 3M Satin Pearl White I went with this time.

Here's my sampling of the colors I finally went with when I did the full wrap 2 years later.

One of the colors I like is dark and the most matte out of the 3 vinyls, Avery Night Blue 623. I'm not sure if that vinyl will age well. How do you maintain the vinyl on your Magnum, wash, dry, spray on a special vinyl coating? Do you have any websites in mind that were helpful, that may have included a maintenance routine that you found to be the best?

Caring for a matte or special finish wrap is somewhat difficult. The gloss colors do hold up better. I wash mine pretty religiously, 1x a week. Can't put any wax on it. I heard that Chemical Brothers sells a coating for matte finishes, but they weren't sure how it would work on the satin pearl that I have. So I haven't really done anything else with it. I do have some staining/discoloration around some of the edges (near the window frames). Some other professional vinyl installers may speak up to assist in this area. I wonder if you can do a ceramic coating on a matte or satin wrap?

Sorry for the late response. Thanks for your input on wrap maintenance. All I could find from Chemical Guys was their Meticulous Matte Detailer. Mentioned it helps prevent water drop stains. Hopefully I can wrap this wagon this year. I have a few things to fix on the exterior before I can move forward. This project will help take my mind off current events. Stay healthy!

And here it is with the 70's inspired stripes. My parents, and then I, had a 1977 Dodge Aspen station wagon for 34 years. I am also a big fan of the wild graphics that came out on cars in the 70s. So my graphics pay homage to both, being patterned after the graphics from the Plymouth Volare Road Runner. This here was the actual car I modeled after.

I don't know how I missed this in the past (maybe during the forum software change-over) but seeing the pics of the car you modeled the theme after is just great. Thanks for these pics.
