2010 charger with a 3.5l, I've had blue LED strips tucked up under my fender wells and inside my grill for a year or two now, I have them hard-wired to my headlights so they're always shining at night. I was pulled over in Plano a couple weeks ago, the cop said I could be considered a police impersonator... Made me laugh a little, just wondering if someone can tell me my lights are illegal, because this cop seemed to steer around the question when I asked him. He also had me put my hands up on my steering wheel so he could search for strobes in my car...

^In VA, that is the law.
In just about every state it is law. Blue lights on the vehicle (unless being used for show purpose) are illegal, red on the front is illegal and in some states, even green is reserved for emergency and/or utility.

Kind of funny how I've had them on my car for such a long time now and when I finally do get pulled over its just because of the blue lights inside my grill, not the underglow on the rest of my car...

I trust yall, but I've gotten different answers from everybody I've talked to about it, I guess I'll just risk it for now, until I can do some hard research on it, I was given a written warning for the lights in my grill, I've already taken them out though, so we'll see what happens lol, thanks for the replies guys!

a person may not operate a motor vehicle equipped with a red, white, or blue beacon, flashing, or alternating lights unless the equipment is:
  1. used as specifically authorized by this chapter; or
  2. a running lamp, tail lamp, backup lamp, or turn signal lamp that is used as authorized by law.

You can not have any red or blue lights visible from the front of your vehicle on a public road boss. Keep them on a switch and only use it for shows or private property.

In UT, red that can be seen directly from the front is illegal. Also, there is, or was (I've been retired awhile) a prohibition of any lights that are not OEM.
My advise is, even if they are not specifically prohibited, (unless you love being stopped), if they are red or blue, switch them off when on the road as suggested above.

In California, a vehicle may display ONLY white or amber lights to the front and red or amber lights to the rear. I know folks have installed other coloured lights and gotten away with it, but blue and/or front facing red will get you stopped and almost certainly cited.

This applies to vehicles being operated on public highway. In a parking lot, with public access it may be technically legal to have them illuminated, however my guess is you'll be drawing the attention of any nearby law enforcement officer. My suggestion is, light 'em up at the local show, but shut 'em off before drivin' anywhere.
