Has any one done this? I am grafting some 8" raw LCD's into stock head rests and I can't figure out how to run the cable so it is hidden, it appears that the shafts on the DCX headrests are solid...

any pictures? ideas?

Hmmm. You will most likely just have to run it along the side of the bar. As long as you do not raise the headrest, no one will be able to see it.

On another note, I have the Directed Electronics Magnum specific headrest on order. Should be here any day. I thought about just putting the monitors into the stock headrest, but they have such a forward "lean" to them. Just looks like the monitor would be hard to see at that angle. The DEI ones come in the color/upholstery of your specified interior, and run $109.95 each. I already had the 7" monitors out of my Nissan DEI headrest, so I only had to buy the empty headrest.

Post pics when you are done.

If you want to try and use the stock headrests, you will not be able to run the cable through the pole. You will have to run the cable next to the pole and see the wire.

I would just buy a set of headrests with LCD's already installed and you don't have to cut up the factory ones.

Just my 2 cents

You could also place a "mock shaft" in between the other two so it looks like there are three, run the wire through the center of the mock shaft. Secured to the headrest with a hole in the top of the seat, the shaft would slide in and out of the hole... er... um... a picture is worth a thousand perverted words:

Yep, that there is what I wanted to see, I have some hollow tubes, just have to buy the stock plastic post holes, thanks Nick-- outstanding idea.

I wouldn't want to cut another hole in the seat just for the cable not to be seen. What if you want to remove the LCD for some strange reason. You are going to have that extra hole for no reason.

Just my thoughts...

Not thinking that cutting will be necessary, the leather seats have the seam at the top right in parallel with the head rest rails, I should be able to carefully insert the plastic guide between the seams, then if I ever remove them, I just pull the guide out, worst case I have to do some minor stitching at the seam.. not a big deal.....
