Im stuck between a rock it fills like. Eather Im going to go with Doug Thorley Tri-Y's or Focuz Tech's Both about the same price the Focuz Tech's are fully coated so are the Thorley's. I just dont know how I would like the Tri-Y's The only thing Im wondering is if I will have any problems with my car being lowered. Here are the links to both headers. Help me decide price isent to big of deal between the two. Mike at Focuz Tech said he would coat them for free. I just want to do this right the first time. I know alot of people dont have eather but what should I do: Thank you for all your help! This place helps out alot when buying stuff

i was really impressed with the doug thorley headers. just the fact that someone ground the welds on the flange by hand made it very nice. every weld was super smooth and no leaks. im currious about the tri-y deal too. but i just took the car for a spin and i can tell you it made a difference especially on the top end. this is coming from shorties with cat less mids. i've never heard of focuz tech headers, but no one can make the decision for you. i got a rockin deal on mine that pretty much made up my mind but if i had seen them in person i would have gladly paid full price ( which is still well below other headers) i guess the only bad thing about them is they dont offer cats. but you will already fail emissions with LT's anyway so i guess that really doesnt matter except a sniffer only test, god bless alabama ( where cops pull you over and say "that thing would sound better if you would cut them cats off") :racing:

Did you ever PM wbglider like I suggested?
He's very deliberate about every decision he makes, and I'm pretty sure he likes his FocuzTech set.

Well I can answer for him if you don't mind. Yes his car is lowered. It's sweet! He also drag races it occasionally and I don't remember him ever saying anything about clearance issues. He did mention that he had to remove his electric cutouts though due to clearance problems.

I have not gone to long tubes yet, but I know Mike at FocuzTech personally and he's a great guy.
If you haven't already, call and talk to him about them. He will answer any question that you have. He is also an installer.

Perfect. Thanks Slim! I did talk to him today. I asked him alot of questoins but I wanted to make sure I looked at my options before jumping in. Mike is a GREAT guy! They had a typo on there website saying the headers come coated with everything for $700. Im going to wait to order them tell tomarow and see if any one else chimes him but Im sure I will go with them.

Well I hope that if you buy them you like them a lot!
Like I said, I don't have them so I'm not trying to sway you one way or another, just trying to give you any info I know about another owners car, and the great guy that's selling them!

Hope you are happy with your decision. :beerchug:

i wouldnt hesitate buying Thorley headers, they have a really good reputation. from past experience, i wouldnt doubt their quality is just as good if not better then Kooks.

hey, I know it seems like we've been looking for a set of headers at the same time! well i decided to go the doug thorley route. especially with the deal that HHP is offering at the moment. it would make it 150 less than the focuztechs. whichever you choose im sure you wont be dissapointed. price was a big factor to me and I also want to go catless, so it seems we are after the same thing. I also was not willing to pay the price for kooks, and now seeing that I will get the thorleys for almost a thousand less makes me happy! it also seems that on your link for the focuztech that the 699 price tag dont come with mid pipes, I could be wrong though. but good luck with your search!

They dont come with mid pipes, but I dont need mid pipes, I do my own exhaust welding ect. I have custom made ones already so that dident matter. Mike at Focus Tech has been soooo helpfull and he hooked me up better than what the price is on there. Now im just trying to figger out the o2 sensor stuff

Doug Thorley.

Call me old school.

I am 60 years old and Doug's Headers, as they were known in the days of my youth, have been around as long as I have. Longer than Kooks and some of the better known brands these days. The only other header makers that may have been around as long are Hooker and Hedman. Back in the 60's Doug's and Hooker had the reputation as being the top performing and best made headers around. He earned that reputation on the drag strip building and driving his own cars.

Look at some vintage drag racing pictures from the 60's and 70's and you will see decals on the top door slammers for Doug's Headers

This pic of the Bourgeois & Wade Javelin (a fliptop, not a door slammer) that Doug Thorley built was taken in 1969. I think Doug had turned to driving over to Dick Bourgeois by that time. That, my friends, is how to launch a hot rod.

This is an ad from 1967 (excuse the Ford reference)

And my favorite. This was my first car, new my senior year of high school (well, not that car, but it was a '66 GTO).

I don't know if Doug's Headers have been taken over by some conglomerate or if they are still run by Doug Thorley, but it appears from what I have read that they still are top tier.

Here's some input from another old school Hot Rodder (well just plain old). Doug Thorley has been in business for almost 50 years, and is still here in So Cal (Corona). I've used their products on several of my Hot Rods over the years, and have always been happy with the quality & performance. It's a much bigger operation than in the good ol days, but still a fairly small business with 130 employees. I'm not affiliated with Doug Thorley Headers in any way, shape, or form, except as a happy customer.

I decided to go with Focuz Techs, One because of the Customer service that he showed me. And Looking at the Tri-Y's with out much our cars depend on the o2 Sensors I can see it will only read off of two Cyl. on each side. I dident like that. Spraying Nitrous I really dident like that eather. They do look VERY nice.
