Found this stuff out the hard way with my '07 SRT8:

1) If you are in the process of loading a tune and you bump the connector loose going to the OBD II port then you will lose all the custom tunes on your Predator and you will have to revert to your stock tune. Happened last year at the track and I had to leave because my car was instantly 5/10ths slower.

2) If you use anything else besides your stock tune as your backup tune your CEL fixes won't work and you may have other issues as well (my idle was lower and the trans seemed to shift weird here and there). I started getting P0128, P0169, P0133, and P0403 codes although I had the thermostat CEL fix and the O2 sensors off. Johan told me that this would happen if I used anything but the stock tune as a backup.

The reason I didn't use my stock tune as a backup was I didn't want to have to revert to it in case #1) happened again as I have cam/heads/headers, etc. and the car would run like absolute crap.

3) When I jumped my car because the battery died with the ignition left to the ON position overnight (after installing tune) the ESP/BAS light came on a block away and the car ran poorly. I re-installed the tune and all was well.

4) With a CMR tune I still hit limp mode when I spin the tires too much or when I do a WOT downshift to first gear in auto mode. I raised the rev limiter to 6800 rpm (shift point at 6400) and it still does it.

5) If you set raised shift points once you shouldn't have to do it if you load another tune.

Feel free to add some stuff you've learned that may help others.

BTW when you load a tune do you need to reset TCM adaptation or is that automatically done?

1/yep, whenever you restore the backup the Predator resets for use on a new vehicle, hence all custom tunes go away.
2/yep, the DSDL application needs to use the original file when loading a custom tune as it does a compare on what is different between the two files and sends that into the predator.
3/This could of prolly been solved by just clearing codes.
4/yep, tcm rev limiter
5/correct, unless you go back to stock.
TCM adapt is not done when loading a tune.

Thanks for the replies and the help. I ran at the track after issue #2 and didn't do as well as a week ago. My 60' times were not as good although I heated the tires the same, etc. I also had a couple hiccups at the 3-4 shift during runs. I was a little disappointed in my car's performance but now look forward to going again with the correct setup. I initially attributed the problem to different track and weather but now know better.
