I guess it's a "Guy" thing, can't leave well enough alone. I have
seen a few Engine Cover mod's from just repainting, to re-styling
the Cover. Some mod's I liked , some I didn't..LOL..that's normal
for me. So..I had an old Engine Cover,OEM that I had painted
Orange, that I took off when I got my Carbon Fiber Engine Cover.
I got out my Dremel, and started on my idea...See Attached..

Cover to be painted "Deep Lava Red'; ordered Spray Can OEM
paint ,Clear coat, & Primer for this part
Letters & Ribs to be the "Chrome Vinyl" overlays that I have used
before.
I have most of the inital work done...

Well..that's MY Idea...Project is in gear,about $80 in Wire Mesh &
Paint ordered and enroute. Will work on it after I get back from the
World renown, All Spectacular South Eastern Shindig THIS weekend
in Perry, Ga.

Will be interested in seeing the mesh and how it looks. Where are you getting it... could be of use to me. I'd like to "play" with mesh behind by all-chrome-clad grill of the H.E. Just don't know where to go about getting "just mesh."

Have fun that the Shindig Stan!

Hey! Look! It's a Car-B-Q Grill! *Grin* I like the thought of mesh there. I was planning on cutting my engine cover and now have something to visualize it first before I start working on it. Thanks at bunch!

You could actually paint the mesh near hemi red and the top mesh black or something

True...
Or any combination you wish..All kinds of possibilities.

But..,,,,Let me make one thing REAL CLEAR... I won't be making these
for resale,or for other people. I couldn't do the volume necessary
to charge a reasonable price.

Getting Close....

I haven't forgotten about updating THOSE that MAY be INTERESTED about MY Project...
I got the Mesh ,wanted the Chrome but costs TOO much for me right now, took quite awhile to get the fit close.
I'll never make it as a Fabricator, not a good one anyway.
Here are 3 pictures of the Updated Project..

I now will be getting my Chrome HEMI letters & Chrome Rib trim from 300 Upgrades
http://www.automotiveupgrades.com/custom.asp?id=47902&page=35&shopperid=48041&showsite=true

I plan to finish off the Project with the 300 C HEMI emblem that is seen on the trunk.

Ok, now that's a cool looking mod! How did you smooth out the side vents?

Nice mod! We did something like this on my last car, with little or no problems. My question is, would to much heat escape up through the mesh and possibly damage an aftermarket hood? I only ask, as I would imagine the Magnum produces much more heat than my Altima did.

I would venture to say, that whatever heat did disipate through the mesh
would not be enough to hurt anything. Remember,
you still have lots of air flowing under the hood .

With all that material removed, how rigid is the cover? Does it try to fold up or sag, etc? I think this looks great. I can't imagine how long it took you to trim out the vents along the sides.

Nice job!
