I am sitting here watching the Monday night Football game and realize the cowboys and Saints are playing next Monday night in Shreveport, 1 1/2 hours from my parents house. My father, who has been a Cowboys fan most of his life, has been to only 2 games I think. In a moment of pure brilliance I bought 2 tickets for the game and will treat my father to something that can't be taken away, time with his son watching the game he love.

Just needed to share that.

I did something like that once for my dad a few years ago. I found out that the Beach Boys were having a concert after a I-Cubs (Iowa Cubs-AAA Affiliate of Chicago), and I bought him, and my aunt and uncle tickets. He loved it! Hes a big Beach Boys fan. I did it again on year when the Monkee's were in town.

thats great, my son takes me to a flyers game ( hockey, for those who don't know) every year for my birthday, and the best part, he won't let me pay for anything, not even parking.
we do the football games every week, he is a coach, at the local high school... great times, your dad won't soon forget! good for you!

My son is going on 8, so far too young to do something like this, but he does things that just amaze me and put a smile on my face every day. So I know how special it is to have that bond, you and your dad will hold onto the memory of that night for sometime.

Here is what happened to me:

About 8 years ago, my wife and I were going to my parents in NC right before Christmas. My parents had retired to NC, but had been big Steeler fans all their lives (we grew up in Pittsburgh during the 70s and had a Steeler coach living next door to us).

My wife and I wanted to take them to the game, but tickets were very hard to come by (with the Panthers being a relatively new and good team then). We decided to bite the bullet and paid an outrageous amount for 4 tickets.

My Dad was so delighted when he unwrapped his early Christmas present. We all went to the game and had a great time (by the way . . . the Carolina fans are some of the nicest around).

He passed away a few months later. My wife and I never regret that decision.

Got the tickets in the mail today and it looks like I will get to not only see my 1st NFL game in person but it will be a Monday night game ....T.O. vs. Reggie Bush....should be great
