Well a few of us went to the local track last Sauturday and I just can't break into the 100mph club or sub 14sec. My best was 14.33 at 98mph. So what I am asking is there some little secret like racing fuel that would help us to shave that little bit off the time. My last race I was almost at 99mph and I felt like the next one would have been faster but ran out of time. I have headers, cat back, and superchip. I am going to upgrade to the KRC mod but for now what can I do? I will say that the setup I have is the fastest out of the group of us that goes. I was even a little faster than a Daytona Charger with long tube headers, cat back and Superchip. I guess I should be happy but of course I want more. Thanks for the help

you're driving a _____? gas won't do much. leave esp on, let the car shift itself, for starters.

Where are you racing? It has a lot to do with how fast you can go.

I use 91 oct, have SC, Volant CAI and cut off the resonaters and my best time at Napierville, Quebec was 14.1, in Englishtown, New Jersey my best was 14.2. I have at least one run at a 100 mph, not many though

The hotter the climate, the slower you will go.

Now you're getting me psyched, Erik. My best at E-town in May was 14.2, so if I get these high-flow cats and headers installed plus the SC tuner set to raised shift points w/ auto kick and ESP off, I should hit the 13 second club?

perhaps fabbing up your own ram air? i've seen some creative ways to do that. I've heard CAI's do nothing for these (i don't even have a magnum so i cant attest to this) because they aren't MAF sensor controled. Is traction a problem? Aftermarket (large) rims? when my pops used to race stock, it came down to adjusting to the perfect tire pressure and removing windshield wipers (air resistance) however i dont think it will help too much

Sorry, I am driving a 05 RT and I also have custom cat back borla pro and Volant CAI. I have raised my shift points, and let the car shift. The other guys were doing the autokick and it didn't help them much. Also I have pulled my fastest times with the esp on, I know it is hard to believe but true. Like I said I was the fastest one out there both times. All together there were two chargers and one other magnum all 5.7 and all modded with atleast cat back and CAI. THe last 2 races I was faster but slower et, I think it had to do with the mild tire spin. I think next time I will lower the tire pressure and maybe do a mild burnout. I was hoping that some racing fuel would help us, too bad they don't have a map for a higher octane racing fuel. Oh I forgot KRC is developing a real ram air intake for our rides. Later

I may have said this before, but the last car I was into like this car - was 3 1995 IMPALA SS's. And when you did a few bolt on's & ran a HIGH 14 it was good! hahaha. My best time was like a 14.90 with a hypertech power programer, 52mm throttle body, CAI, full exhaust.

The magnum for some reason has my same attention as the Impala. I guess the Impala because of the iron heads only had 260 HP stock, VS the mighty HEMI running 345 HP - but to get an impala into the 13's was on NOS or a super charger. Its funny to get a SICK wagon into the 13's with a fine tune & some bolt on goodies.

Cold air = dense air = more HP! Less tire Pressure makes more traction! I suck @ drag racing so disregard all I say!

Im about to pull the trigger on cats and I can imagine what thats gonna do.
Althought I got 13.8, I still never broke 100MPH. Best I got was 99.62

wheelspin'll wreck ya... so if you're getting more than a little bit of it, turn the esp back on. i gues it doesn't sound like you are right now though.

but, how many people are running 20's or 22's VS. the stock 18's in the 1/4 miles. not only are they taller - but they weigh more. weight VS. the good ole' HP ratio.

JonzMgnm has 22's on his ride. lots of bolt on's. But will the larger diamer wheels slow him down?

I know it has to do with the over all diameter & the weight of the wheel - but not sure on how much difference it makes. On a different note - my chicken nuggets are done.........

A larger diameter tirel will in fact slow you down. It effectively changes your gear ratio. As will a heavier wheel. It takes more horsepower to turn it over and get it rolling.
A good trick I haven't seen mentioned (and its free!) is to lose the spare, the cargo floor, backseat if you feel like working that hard. Every 100 lbs. is worth a tenth in the 1/4.

Jay,I was running 13.9's with my R/T @102.xx.That was on 20's.They are the same diameter tire as the 18's,and if your carefull not much heavier.

BoiseHemi,Shut the ESP off,and work on getting the car to hook with launch technique. You will go faster with ESP off.

Only 20" Foose, Jay. The 22 was my leather padded console from James @ 22elite. Enjoy you chicken nuggets.

You can pack bags of ice around the intake and fuel rails in the staging lanes ( push it through the lanes ) The cooler the better... Make sure the bags have no holes and soak up any left over water with a towel before the run.

What BoiseHemi is not telling you is that the track is at 3000 ft. elevation and the DA that night ranged from 4465-5208 ft. When we go in Sept/Oct, with better DA, I think he'll easily make it past the century mark....and get his 100 mph sticker. His Maggie definitely has it over the rest of the local LX's. There was also a Maggie SRT-8 with a novice driver that was only running 14.10-14.20, if that helps put things in perspective. It was stock except for replacing the suitcase....no CAI, etc. We had to give them a 25 cent fan mod. to help cool it off. It was running at 220-225 prior. Ours with the mod. ran at 150-180 in 85 degree ambient, and 20-30% humidity.
