OK, a few of you may have noticed that I posted a thread a few months ago looking to see if anybody out there wanted a job... This is ironic because now I find myself wanting a new job.

Don't get me wrong, I still like my company as a whole and still love the job. I would still recommend them to others.

However 2 issues....
#1. I have recently realized I am maxed out. No further up to move here.
#2. Recently HR decided my pay grade should not be eligible for overtime pay... SO I effectively took a 12K a year pay cut!

Some may wonder how I say I still like the company.... Well it was a business decision, as a whole I agree with it, I personally did see several departments taking advantage of this policy as it was in force... Unfortunately, for those to be corrected the program was shut down, and I suffer. :eek:wned:

In addition to this loss in pay, the wife and I had already decided it is time to add a little one to the family... I know, I know, I will never be financially READY for that one, but taking a huge pay cut just before it happens has really caused me a lot of sleep loss lately.

I would sell the LX before I would tell Alice we couldnt have a child... But obviously I don't like that option either so a better paying job is my first choice, or a second, supplemental job as my second choice...

So what am I looking for? Well, something new, something interesting. I am young, willing to travel, and willing to relocate for the right job. My experience surrounds basic electronics and troubleshooting, Microsoft office skills, presentation, public speaking skills and managerial/ supervisor skills.

Most recently I have been in charge of a nationwide training program in which I am responsible to research, plan, obtain budget (Approx $1M for '07) , implement, and maintain.

I don't want to bring up salary in a public forum but if anybody thinks they may have SOMETHING, or know a lead, please pass it along or send me a PM and we can discuss details.

Just so you know, I am trying other avenues... I have also begun the job search through MANPOWER TECHNICAL, MONSTER.com, careerbuilder.com and local searches and papers, etc. And will continue to do so.. If a NEW job doesn't pan out, as stated above, I will also consider a second job, but due to my current travel schedule and 55+ hour work week, it will be difficult.

My resume is attached below for those who wish to view it in detail. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for stopping by and any help you can provide would be appreciated...

Daniel

Sorry to hear Dan. I don't have a job to offer but I would recommend Illinois:) We still have O.T.! When the Feds changed to law, Ilinois passed legislation that mirrored the old Fed law, so here in IL nothing changed.

Best of luck!

Thanks! Actually the government changing the laws didnt effect our OT, and in all honesty, it was a strange program from the start as I am Level 3 (out of 4) manager, and salary to boot. Kind of odd to get paid Overtime anyway, but that asside, having it for 3 years regularly, and then overnight it is gone...

At this point I am considering just about anywhere, just to change things up and start fresh. So IL is not off my radar.

Been in exactly your shoes with the OT and my position. OT was cut effective 7/1/06. Fortunately, a good raise followed with a boss looking out for me.

Things will work themselves out for your current and future family. I'll check our company intranet for similiar positions throughout the country.

Well it is official... I put in a plea for an increase to my boss (V.P) and Human resources... It was officially, in writing, DENIED... Something about, if he does it for me, he has to do it for everyone... :blah:

OK, I see his perspective, and maybe I gave up too easy saying "I understand" but I didnt want to argue.. I feel that would not help matters and possibly cause further dissention...

Anyway, In 7 years here, I have never SOO MUCH wanted to just walk away, or atleast turn in a two week notice! I even started typing my notice... Dont worry, I erased it and came here to vent instead.

I know better than to just walk away, I couldnt make it more than 3-4 weeks without a steady income right now before I would start faulting on some bills... SO it isnt an option, But MAN I would have loved to see his face if after he said, No, if I could have just replied "OK, I understand, so in that case, consider this my two week notice, I will go somewhere that appreciates me!" LOL

Similar thing happened at my wife's work. She works for an insurance company, and after Katrina and the Waves hitting the Gulf last year, the company said no more OT. She is exempt, but what her department could do was something called "bounties". There were various projects that weren't a priority, but if you did them on your own, you got paid at something like $25 an hour.

They dropped that, too.

Seeing that you're in Alabama, one thing that is in huge demand there is the pharmacy field. To be a pharmacist is something like 6 years of schooling, but you could start as a pharmacy tech. It's about a year of schooling, and the salary is anywhere from $12-$20 an hour plus benefits depending on where you're working (retail, hospital, etc).

Daniel,
I know you said you'd be willing to relocate, but I know AZ is a long way from where you are. Have you checked on Monster, Career Builder, etc. for jobs in Arizona? I know there are always tech/IT/computer jobs here. We have Intel and a lot of high tech industry here, plus it is a growing area. Might be worth your while. If you do consider it, let me know and I will do what I can to help.

I sort of like the technology field, but in the past couple of weeks I have found your statement to be true... They (pharmacist) seem to be in huge demand around here... The thought has crossed my mind... Right now, the pharmacy tech level is a little low, BUT if things continue downhill I will be considering a slight cut with the ability to move up quickly... THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Yeah, I have been all over Monster, careerbuilder and the like... Plus many more, not much luck yet, but I am starting out looking around here first... AZ is a bit far, but I can agree with the temparatures better than moving North, so it isnt out of the equation... Let me see where things go, I may be looking you up again for some guidance in that area if things dont pan out soon.
