Ok, which tires to go with. My guy at Discount tire is gonna order me up some wheels and I need to know which tires to go with. They are 22" and going on an AWD C. The 265-35 should fit right, right? And now Hankook or Pirelli, I think its a difference of $25 per tire. Ive only heard good things about Hankook, not too much about Pirelli, so which ones have you guys had and did you like the way it drove.

Ya, its a daily driver, I dont drive more than about 10,000 miles a year. I mean I could go higher than that, but its not likely at all, its all local driving. Im a realtor too, so I still need it to be driveable with clients. The AWD sits pretty high up, so the drop will just be to eliminate some of the wheel gap.

The proper cross-section and tread width of a tire to fit your car is independent of whether you lower the car or not. A 265mm size tire fits when mounted on the correct width of rim and at the proper offset.

A 255/30-22 has too short of a sidewall and is not really suited for the weight of the LX car.

As for selection of brands, Pirelli is among the top three brands in the world that also include Dunlop and Michelin. Hankook is an excellent tire also.

If at all possible, go with a summer tread tire. Any all-season tire tread with siping will be noisy and wear faster.

The rim is a 22x8.5, the 265-35-22 would be the right one to go with then?

The proper rim size for a 265/35/22 is 22 x 9.5. Offset can be anywhere for 12 to 22mm, 15 to 18mm being optimal. In that size tire, the Pirelli P Zero Scorpion is a popular choice. The said tire will throw your speedo off 4.5%. The 255/30/22 is the same diameter as a stock tire. With your size rim, and your plans to lower it, I would recommend the 255's; assuming you have the correct offset.

Ya, the offset is a +40mm. Will the 265's not fit the 22x8.5? I like the look of the wider tires and the little bit of more sidewall for better ride? Is there a 255-35 that could work with these?
No, an 8.5" width wheel is too narrow for a 265mm size tire. Mounting that width of tire on that width of wheel will cause too much distortion of the tire sidewall and uneven tread wear.

I am not aware of a tire manufacturer offering a 255/35-22 size tire, but who knows?

Again, if you have the proper clearance for a 265mm size tire at stock height, you can lower the car to whatever height you like without problems. Conversely, if the width of the tire is too much for your car, it won't matter what height you have your car at -- it'll rub.
