I would think they would have had it in the shop doing final prep, etc., that it would be no where near any other car, much less a mini-van with a family and kids looking at it.

How did you see it happen, or did they come in and tell you what happened? What else did they say about fixing it. Surely they didn't just let you walk away! That's nuts for the stage of paperwork you were at.

Needless to say, if it's the SRT you really wanted I would call them back and make a play for additional savings... and then take it to Ernie... or accept the car with the written understanding that they will pay Ernie to match it up.

I can't believe a dealer would let a 40K+ check walk out the door because of something so trivial. When I say trivial, I'm not implying that I would not have been p!ssed - I would have. Thing is, the dealer that I buy from with would have been jumping through hoops doing anything they could to make it right and save the sale...

I was sitting there getting my insurance switched over at the desk i looked over saw the people i was watching there ever move they had my soon to be car parked right in the front of the building...anyways i saw the people opening and closing doors well then a kid opened the door right into the front left fender i was in shock i saw gold paint right on the front fender from the van i ran right outside the saleman working with those people must have wiped the paint off so there was the chip a another sales men came out and said i dont see anything i said to him do you really think im stupid so i pointed it out to him ...oh that he says......I was pissed they were trying to cover it up so i got my went back into the showroom pick up my keys and insurance card and reg, and walked out...now my salemen comes out to me and say well maybe your better off this way because you kept you car so nice..not even can we take some money off ,fix it nothing just let me leave...So i shouldnt be pissed upset nothing....well I am...its principal here....Im spending good money and they seemed to treat me like S**T!!!!!!!!!!!

The salesman said maybe you're better off not taking the sale!? Unbelievable... sounds to me like they weren't that eager to close... did you get any sense of that before this happened. Seems like there should have been some hints.

Naw you not wrong for gettin mad at all. I dad works in a dealer ship. He been there since I was born. Fact of the matter is a car that is sold or about to be sold should be set out were no one can can tear it up. That kid should have not been able hit that car. When I bought my car besides the sales man pulling it in the front window so I can see it. ( so he can use the visual pic to make me bye which worked) It mostly stayed in the back in a empty bay till the paper work was signed. If he doesnt call. Find a better dealer.

When I bought my magnum in Jan 05, I gave them a $5,000 cash downpayment and told them I would be back in 30 days with the balance. They put it away safe and did not let anyone touch it! Your dealer sounds like a dip$hit. Shop around, even if you have to travel.

Yeah, very odd. Seems like they'd have called you back and tried to coax you back in. Go figure.

Sorry to hear it, but there's one out there for you somewhere. :)

I wonder if this mysterious family in the mini-van might have belonged to the owner of the dealership or maybe someone else that worked at the dealership. Call me a conspiracy nut, but given that they did nothing but encourage you to leave, that makes me wonder if someone that worked there decided they wanted the car for themselves and decided to get the "family" to ding it so you wouldn't want it.It's pretty far-fetched, but stranger things have happened.

Or maybe the dealer decided the deal was not a very good one for them so the incident was staged.....you really never know these days
