Reading all those posts on GTO vs Magnum was interesting, but one question kept returning: Why wasn't the comparison Mustang GT vs Magnum RT?

Why would anybody choose a GTO over a Mustang GT? How did the "after-thought" GTO get chosen ahead of the well-thoughtout designed Mustang. Good performance - Great looks.

Must have stock in GM, work there, or daddy always buys GM.

Just to settle everyones wondering, I'm Magnum all the way. Good performance - "Look-at-me" looks (plus a bunch of space.)

I myself would chose the GTO (eventhough its just a v8 Grand Am) over the Rustang anyday!

I think they are using the GTO because it will eat the mustang and spit it out. My son has an 05 GTO , I have an 05 magnum and one of his buddies has the stang. The stang never wins, I've beat it. My sons GTO will beat the mag on the top end. From a dead stop, my all wheel drive will pull him to about 50, after that ,I just try to follow. I've told my son the only reason I like his car is that I don't have to make the insurance payments and can use it when I want. Ride wise, there is no comparison. The GTO is just a high powered go kart.

Have you ever actually sat in a GTO? The Mustank might look better on the exterior than the goat, but it's slow and really uncomfortable. I love the seats in the GTO - I'd put them in all my cars if I could.

I always find it interesting when people put down on car or another......every car has appeal for someone and just because you don't like a particular car don't bash it....someone else might not like yours.......I think a person should buy the car that when you sit down in it and take off it fits you....not anyone else......like my Magnum did me........like my hubby's Mustang does him and like the GTO owners car does it for them.

Well I think it's all done in good spirit and just for the fun and bragging rights. I wouldn't put down anyone (other than in fun) for what they drive. Lord knows I've driven some real junk.

The thing is that its a well known fact that all the LX cars own any other car on the planet. You can't get the luxury, performance, and comfort of the LX's from any other car, and we as LX owners are superior beings and therefore can put down any other car because it is our right. :Na_Na_Na_Na:

Well, can't disagree with most of that....LX's are the best of all worlds and we are pretty smart for driving them......so.......:not_worth

If I was considering getting a GTO or a Mustang GT it would be because they respond well to mods. That would be the only reason as both would be next to useless in the snow! Ya, I know it's possible but not really practical to drive one all year round. That being the case(garage queen) I'd have to give the nod to the Mustang, the 8-9 grand less woukd buy lots of mods that would easily make the Mustang more than the GTO could handle. I bought my Magnum because It's similar in perfomance to a Mustang GT automatic(well the 2004's anyway), more comfortable, and is great driving in all weather + I can haul alot of things that would'nt fit in either a GTO or Mustang.

I test drove a GTO before getting my C, fun car to drive but could not see myself using it as my everyday ride:roll:
as I get older and wider in the midsection I do like my fast to be comfortable:rock:
