General Motors (GM) raised the stakes Wednesday in the auto warranty wars, announcing it will back the powertrains of its 2007 model year vehicles up to five years or 100,000 miles.
CEO Rick Wagoner, unveiling the plans at GM's headquarters in Detroit, said backing its vehicles longer is a demonstration of how the world's largest automaker has improved quality. He called it the best warranty of any "full-line" manufacturer.

Is DC going to counter and return 7 year 70k ?

In my opinion the powertrain is the least of the problems. If the manufacturer wants to brag then up the bumper to bumper to 5 year 50,000 miles. It seems to me that it is all of the nickle and dime BS parts or electronics that cost the most to replace and are most prone to fail. Anyone can build a tranny or drivetrain that can last 100,000 miles.
