We all bought our 5.7 for one reason or another. But any 5.7 guy or girl willtell you, there is nothing that puts a smile on your face quicker than puttingan SRT-8 in your review. Granted the 5.7 vs 6.1 playing field has not been acompletely even one thus far.If you have a 5.7 and you decide to take your baby to that next level withthose sexy ass drag radials you have to be real with your self and ask your self are you running on borrowed time or can I push it even harder?
We all know the SRT-8 have a better gear ratio, stronger axles (SOME TIMES) andeven a stronger drive shaft. But the cost to convert any 5.7 car to the 6.1 goodiescan cost to the upwards of 2k or less.Even then your still stuck with the weak 6.1 axles. SO then your looking at a couple ofk for some 1000hp shafts for the 6.1 Carrier. That just leves you with a bunch ofmoney into swapping into a 6.1 Carrier with axles for what benafit? We all know your going to getthose 3.23 or 3.55 gears so why wast the money to convert to a 6.1 set up when you can do the same with your 5.7 set with out the added cost of converting over to used 6.1 parts?
Well the Dive Shaft Shop has finally finished there Bata testing for their 500hpaxles.
As some may have heard there where some initial issues with the first set ofaxles that the bata testers got there hands on. But that's why they call it BATATESTING, to test and work out the bugs.
I would rather buy a product from acompany that is willing to spend the time and resources to insure they can sellyou the best product passable the first time out the door.
I have to admit as a mechanic and a racer, I love these axles.
WHY?I love the fact they have Porsche-style 108mm chromoly inner CV withreplaceable diff splines.
1. Any perforce part that gives you the availability to be easily rebuild-able is abig pulse to me. These parts become damage when or if you over power the factoryopen diff. Remember when you upgrade one part, you will always find the next weeklink. (more on that later)
2. Because the way they come apart, you can actual pull them off your baby inless than 30mins, you don't have to remove the exhaust or any suspension or take thebrake parts. Compare to the labor intensive way you have to remove the factoryparts, win win.
3. Warranty, How many race parts actual give you a 1 year warranty? And I cantell you from personal exposes Frank, is awesome, if you ever have a question orneed something different he is your man.4. Performance, I can only say from my know it all, but I just hit the trackFriday night and for the first time I had the peace of mind, that I would beable to drive home!!! Not Be towed again. When you have to pay a tow truck $850to tow your happy but home, these axle will pay for them self's.
I have read past post, that calmed some axles make noise if you lower your ride,or put your girls in the back seat. Well my brothers these axles don't have that problem. After there installed, you drive around the parking lot and you cant even tell you made the swap. PS I lowered my ride with TENS and have had no problems. The real reason I'm making this post is to make us 5.7 guy more aware that there are more options to us, than fighting for used 6.1 left overs. And with us have the same options as they do, the added experience of swapping over is worthless.
SO which company or hp size you go with is all mater of choices, I want you all to know my experiences as I "been there done that".
So which axles do you need 500hp or 1000hp? I have had the 500hp axles in for several months and miles with no issue. And they have even helped me get that FOOT BALL for 5.7 stoker class with a 1.666 60 foot ( I have done better ). 2nd time at track with facotry axles, destroid my hole carrer, as it broke inside the center cunk.
By knowing your personal end goal is key. If your going stoker or forced induction or even NOS your time is limited your going to have address your rear end issue.
Me personally if your goals are 11.5 500hp rocks if you want those 10's then 1000hp are common sense no matter what company you go with.An trust me, there are going to be some more drive train goodes for us soon!!!!
IF you want more information give Frank a call at the DSS and get the info you seek.SEE YOU AT THE TRACK IRON MIKE :beerchug: PS: Any one who as ever read my post knows I don't write well! I'm working on it. :modding: PS Im not trying to push any one company.
